Dear colleagues,

To complete our restructuring plan, I'm pleased to announce Dr.Arelia Johnson will be taking on the role of Chief Equity Officer for the County. In this role, Dr. Johnson will be an integral part of our senior management team. She will foster a proactive commitment to equity, inclusivity, and accessibility across the County, educate employees on equity-based practices, and champion equitable outcomes throughout Harris County.

As Chief Equity Officer, Dr. Johnson will lead efforts to promote equitable outcomes across County departments. She will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to implement Commissioners Court directives and policies that address systemic racism and discrimination.

Dr. Johnson brings a wealth of experience and expertise to this role. A native Houstonian and two-time graduate of Texas Southern University, she has a strong background in psychology and political science. Expanding on her education and interests, she earned her doctoral degree from Howard University in sociology and criminology. Dr. Johnson's commitment to community empowerment led her to establish The Owned Project, which has evolved into a leading diversity, equity, and inclusion training firm. Additionally, she has held various leadership positions, contributing significantly to advancing equity efforts within Harris County and beyond.

Most recently, Dr. Johnson served as a Senior Program Manager at the Justice Management Institute, where she led equity efforts and provided support to counties across the country. Her commitment to promoting fairness and justice will undoubtedly make her an invaluable asset to our team.

It used to be 'EQUALITY', as in 'equal OPPORTUNITY' - a concept that no decent person would oppose.

Somewhere along the way in the last 10 years or so, the word suddenly morphed into 'EQUITY', as in 'equal OUTCOMES' - a concept that only Marxists and Socialists would endorse.

Gotta hand it to the libs - they game plan subtle shifts like this and next thing you know they've convinced their base that it's yet another issue of 'good vs evil' and suddenly it's accepted as gospel.

Seems like any initiative geared towards 'equal OUTCOME' should be punishable as treason, but nope. Here we are.

And it's the most elite institutions in the country pushing it. TJ high school in Virginia. Harvard University. I've got no problem with looking past a test score or some bullet points on a resume' or a GPA in order to give someone a chance who didn't have access to the same opportunities. But once the foot is in the door, the idea that everyone should have the same outcome is insane..
