OP, have you considered adopting a rescue dog?
Kids under 5 & most rescue groups discourage adopting a rescue.
I can recommend the one I got mine from but the dogs are big. (80-100 lbs)

She responded. Just had a litter last night. 3 males and 7 females.
Here is mine. He turns 1 year old on Thursday. Excellent temperment and he was really great with house breaking.
