Valid concern. A major flood event could totally eff up the Mississippi River's course despite all the man made structures put in place.

The issues in Baton Rouge have nothing to do with the Mississippi. It is the Amite river that is causing the chaos. The Mississippi has about the best flood control systems in the world around there. Problems with flooding in the delta almost always involve other bodies of water.
