For those that have bought/downloaded his latest CD, is it as good as the last? Other than hearing it was very different than the last one, I haven't heard much (outside of professional reviewers).

I didn't like the new one as much -- but I think its much more about personal preference.
Very different is a good way to describe it. I didn't think the new one was bad, I just liked the last one better

The biggest complaint I have heard is it doesn't sound like the last one did-- I think its dumb if every album sounds exactly the same

Same here. That's what I thought as well. Should be awesome live. Seems like they'll have to have 12-15 musicians on stage for some of it to properly recreate the sound. I rate both this one and last album about the same...9/10. People expecting a similar sound to the last one may be turned off but I don't see how you couldn't warm up to this one after a few spins.

I'm not really fond of his version of 'In Bloom" but I think it's interesting he tried.

Agreed. I also didn't understand him changing the lyrics to the chorus.

Been listening to his new album quite a bit recently, really like it. As others have said, different sound than Metamodern Sounds in Country Music (which I loved) but really great. It gets better with each listen.

Cannot wait to see him live for the first time on Tuesday.

The new album is solid in my opinion. Not as "country" as his previous albums but a great record from start to finish. Love that it's directed toward his son as I can relate to most of the songs. Really digging Welcome to Earth (Pollywog), Keep It Between the Lines, and Oh Sarah.

This show is going to be so much fun. I find myself rolling the windows down and yell-singing most of his choruses.

Two of my tickets got freed up so I got my buddy and another friend covered. Looks like he played Sailor's Guide to Earth from beginning to end and then Metamodern Sounds from end to beginning and ended with some older stuff and an Otis Redding cover (You Don't Miss Your Water). Should make for a fantastic show.

In Dallas he came on close to 9 apparently. They had doors opening at 7, and show scheduled for 8:30. Not sure if it will be the same here.

If there is no opening act, I find it hard to believe they would open the doors to let people stand around for 2 hours before any music.

I agree, but that's what they did in Dallas so it wouldn't shock me. I also don't see the headliner coming out right at 7 so it will probably be in the middle.

Do they have a noise curfew at this place?
