Anybody have suggestions for a romantic Italian restaurant?
I was looking at Vincent's or Michelangelos but I have not been to any somewhat nice restaurant downtown.

TIA

Damian's is my go to

Michaelangelo's is good, but the building is kind of a sheet hole

Patrenellas is a good choice.

Not super swanky, but nice enough, laid back, and the food is legit.

No Riva's, no care.

I don't even like Italian food that much, and I like Riva's.

I'm a big Cavatore's fan, but I don't know that I'd classify it as a romantic dinner. Food is great though.

Whatever you do, don't go to Coltivare...that ***t is not authentic Italian.

Damian's is my go to as well. Although I understand they don't finish their pasta in the sauce so they can't be real italians according to Bonfirewillburn.

I was impressed by Tony Mandolas. If you go to Costco, you can by a $100 gift card for $69.

They have similar deals for Flemmings, Marks, McCormick & Schmicks (although I think it works for any Landrys), and El Tiempo (I think all of those are $100 for $80).

Is it good for the fajitas at the meat market? That chit is good!!!

According to my wine guy in Spello, Da Marco's is the closest to authentic Italian you can find in Houston, followed closely by Quattro.

What does this even mean? There are 20-30 different regions of Italy that all have their own unique cuisine.

Colina's and La Vista are widely excepted in the Italian community as the "go to authentic" in Houston. Great food, but BYOB puts it over the top. Sure, they screw you on the corkage fee, but you just take that out of the waiters tip

It ain't the corking fee. I'm pretty sure Colina's screws you on the chitty food they serve.

Da Marco's is the best if you're looking for a romantic setting.

Food is great. A little pricey though.

Coltivare is clearly not authentic because they don't have spaghetti and meatballs, lasagna and chicken parm. Also, it's not served "family style" like a true authentic Italian restaurant...see Buca di Beppo.

Don't forget red and white checkered tablecloths for authenticity. Add in a couple photos on the wall from The Godfather and Goodfellas and it is tits.

Mascalzone off Shepherd. A little more laid back than Chef Alberto's previous restaurants, but nails nevertheless.

Hey that's my hood. Underrated spot for sure.

We go to Cavatore or Bellisimo when we are hankerin' for Italian. Both usually hit the nail on the head

Sorrento, Antica Osteria, Coppa Osteria

Birraporetti is garbage. La Griglia and Grotto are crazy loud and were ruined once Landry's took over.
