Looking for a bar or two to make a stop at and catch some of the 11:30/2:30 games before heading to NRG for some tailgating. I imagine there isn't anything worth a damn real close to the stadium, so what is the nearest bar or area with a couple of bars? Med Center? Anything over in the Bellaire area?

Little Woodrows is pretty good, I won't go back to the Marquis after they ruined it and made it nice.

There's tons of good bars right on Main St downtown, but if you want good football watching bars, you are better to head over to the area of Webster and Smith St. which is about 5 walking blocks from the McGowen stop of the rail. You have Coaches, Pub Fiction and BWW all right near each other.

My brother in law owns this place (with a partner and the partner runs it). It is close and chill.

The bartenders are friendly and the bathrooms are Buccees level clean or cleaner.

There are a whole bunch of bars on Main along the railway just south of the UHD stop. Most of them serve $10 cocktails from the learnd hands of a dude wearing a vest under the dim lighting of an old Edison-esque lightbulb.

But hey, at least it tastes good.

How is Molly's pub? We're looking for a bar along the rail line that has the essential day drinking necessities like TVs, Golden Tee, and a juke box that allows 3 credit songs to play over the crap someone else played.

I used to like the place, but last time I went, it had really gone downhill. Beer was flat and it smelled pretty damp. All of the negatives of a dive with none of the charm.

I think there are a lot better options for you these days in downtown. If you want a dive, go to Warren's,

I love Warren's and that was my original plan...however the wife thinks it smells of urine. I'll probably end up D to A in some midtown bar if I had to guess.

I would recommend pre-partying in Midtown either at Little Woodrow's or Pub Fiction (both good game watching spots) and then hopping on the train a couple hours before game time.

I used to be a regular at Kay's, but the last few times I've been there it really felt like they were mailing it in and waiting for an offer. I haven't felt compelled to go there in a while.
