Keeping uverse for tv but their internet keeps screwing up & they can't solve it, so I'm going elsewhere.

My question for those that have xfinity Internet & don't rent the equipment, what modem/router do you have? I'd rather buy than rent the equipment

You can get them at best buy or various places online

yeah, you'll need a router. Those aren't specific to Comcast though.

You can spend $25 on a router or several hundred so it will be more a matter of you specific needs there.

I don't think that's true.

You can verify with the Comcast site to make sure a particular modem will work.

Ok I gotcha.....need to call and see how much Xfinity wants me to pay. It's super cheap with Uverse right now (max speed, $18/mth) but I'm fed up with its issues

They do have an approved list but it includes all modems that I have ever seen that are DOCSIS 3.0

You can buy a router and modem combo, but I prefer to keep them separate

All the review websites I have read focus on provider compatibility so there must be some variation.

I would just get the cheapest docsis 3.0 with decent reviews. You're not going likely going to notice a speed difference as a result of the modem.

I know I can prob get it all the cheapest in Anazin but I'm going to stop by best buy on the way home & see stuff in person

The Apple Airport has caught my eye as well

Well this sucks.....Comcast isn't available in my section of the neighborhood, It's Entouch's area.

So now I don't know who to look at for Internet, bc Entouch's is $61/mth for 30mbps download & 5 upload.....seems like a rip

If you aren't downloading huge files or streaming Netflix in 4K while doing other stuff, the difference between 30 and 100 is pretty much non existent.
