How much money has been spent to come up with far-fetched ideas for the Astrodome?

Who told these planners/developers that there was some big interest in a western heritage type museum? Every plan seems to have that.
Outside of the three rodeo weeks a year I don't think anybody really ever gives a hoot about the different breeds of horses found in Texas.

After walking the grounds during cookoff, it is apparent that the cookoff and rodeo would be significantly improved by removing the dome entirely. It's a big, ugly eyesore that seriously needs to go so that Reliant Park can be completely modernized.
It seems like every year a group of drunks break into the done, take pics, then a new rendering emerges. Wash, lather, rinse, repeat.
Blow it up already because this is comical at this point.

All these proposals are crap, unless someone does something before the year is out the dome is going to be a giant parking lot just in time for the Superbowl in '17.
Turn it I to a parking lot. I have some chairs from the dome. I get it. Spent my childhood there, but I would rather Astroworld back than the dome. And after paying $20 bucks to park in the same county as the rodeo I would prefer a garage there than an eyesore
13 years after Reliant Stadium opened, a new rendering that was drawn by crayons in 1965 is released detailing a plan that will never happen.
We now know what Benjamin Knox did over spring break.
I see that the drawings have all white people in them but something makes me want to think that things would be vastly different
Is it just me or does the plane in this pic look like it just bombed the Dome and is a getting away? Looks like an explosion on the crest of the Dome.

Leave it and let it become one with the land over time. The Dome is what put Houston on the map. It made us who we are today. We are a much greater city for it. The fact that so many want it torn down is simply a sign of liberalism run amonk and the instant-gratification entitlement society we now live in.

If you are not going to demolish it then why not gut it, make sure it gets back up to code, and then just use it as an event center....I am sure rodeo could use it during their season and so can other business conferences, sporting events, etc....

It would be cheaper to demo and the build new than try to bring that POS up to code.
I vote for one giant escape room. Make it a game show like atmosphere and 10 people have 3 days to escape, except the first out wins and everyone has tazers.
And have wild dingos.
