Best value that gets the job done when you're craving it?

I'm going to go ahead and be the unpopular one here that posts the chain places. Probably because I don't live midtown and am out on the West.

I'm not a fan of BB's. Dunno why people say it's so good.

Pappadeuxs has never done me wrong on Etoufee.

Other solid less expensive.

But seriously, I like Bayou City and Ragin Cajun. Both on Richmond ITL towrds 610

Zydeco's has the most authentic.

Herbert's at 610 and Richmond has it to buy in a container. Very easy to make and tastes good.

What makes it authentic?

Cajun Town in Gunspoint works for me.

Cajun Town for anything Creole.

Not sure if I'd count it Gunpoint but its legit.

I love Zydeco's, but not a fan of their Etoufee.

Breakfast Klub believe it or not has a killer Etoufee and comes with a piece of catfish (on Wednesday only though).

Most places in town you are going to over pay for it, in my opinion. Why not just make one? It is not that hard and you can do a whole pot for about the price of one dish at any of the restaurants around.

You must be thinking of the one on N Houston Rosslyn. There is definitely one in Gunspoint.

I have come to realize that pappadeuxs version is not real authentic (dark roux) however I absolutely love thier version.

I've had it at The Boot in Shady Acres a couple times recently and thought it was solid. Reminds me of my mom's version. Plus it's a couple blocks from my house which is nice.

I wasn't very impressed with Ragin Cajun's etouffee, but to each their own

Cajun town or pappadeauxs.

Has no one else tried B Klub's?

Floyds for any of the "stew" types. Their courboullioun is unparalleled.

Another vote for Cajun Town. I work down the street from the Gunspoint one and frequent it once a month or so.
