Mel's restaurant is an institution for southern style food. For breakfast, The Nook and El Emperador are fairly good. You're gonna have to stray outside Tomball to find the good/great golf courses like Woodforest at Fish Creek (great) or Gleannloch (good).

Ama's Mexican Cantina is great.

The Nook and CC's Cafe have amazing breakfast menu.

Mel's has great southern style home cooking as stated above.

Goodson's Cafe has really good chicken fried steak and rolls with gravy. It's been shown on several Food Network shows and lists.

The new shopping complex on the NW corner of B249 and 2920 (referred to as "Four Corners") has a bunch of chain food joints and local services like dry cleaners, cell phone store, etc. along with a really nice Kroger.

I've used James Geer as my dentist from when I moved there in '96 all the way to the present except for the years he left the field after his wife passed away. He's located on Main street. I now live in The Woodlands and still drive to Tomball to see him.

What part of Tomball are you moving to? I have some good places if you are south.

Also, how old are you and do you have kids? That will help people understand what you might be looking for.

You can safely skip goodson's. Unless you need to touch up some drywall. Then get some of their gravy.

Try the Whistle Stop Cafe for lunch/dessert; eat inside if you are with some ladies, guys I might recommend getting it Togo. Also Locatellis pizza has a location in Tomball now.

The old train depot is fun on the weekends when it is open if you have a kid that loves trains. Free place to spend an hour or so.

There are also a few random museums/historical markers that are fun to wander around and find.

Whistle stop is actually a very decent place for a sandwich and soup to take your lady and pretend like it's her idea. Get the pia colada cake.

Gianna's is pretty good Italian. The owner also has a wine bar in the same center.

Gianna's is good food. The atmosphere sucks, but the food is good.

Depending on where you are in Tomball, Via Emilia is your go-to for Italian...not Gianna's.

But yes, posting additional information about yourself and where you're moving would help.

Did I go on a bad day? Everything we ordered tasted like it was premade or over salted at Gianna's.

They tend to over salt sometimes depending on what you order. I typically get fettuccine alfredo with chicken and it is always good, even the chicken. When in doubt, ask for easy or no salt and then salt to taste on your own.

Surprised he hasn't tried the Starbucks off 249. A littke pricey but still decent coffee.

Off 249 near Northpointe? Is it good stuff? It's relatively new, right?

This saw it a month or so ago when I had to drive south from Tomball to BWY 8 (first time in probably a year). Looked like a place I may check out if ever over there again.

I've been to the one at greenspoint. It was good, but I'd probably not pass up a raising canes to get to it.

Did you really just suggest Los Cucos? I hope this post is a joke.

I live in the Vintage area. Strata is good for happy hour drinks/small bites. They have happy hour 7 days a week in the bar area. There's an El Tiempo and Mia Bella there as well.

Sierra Madre Taco Co. on Louetta has awesome (authentic) breakfast tacos. My ex and I used to eat there almost every weekend.

How are there so many Los Cucos locations? It's hot garbage, except for when it's not hot.

I didn't really think about Vintage coming up in a discussion of Tomball but I guess TISD does go all the way down to Louetta and pick up parts of Lakewood Forest.

Can't think of the name, but the Brazilian steakhouse in Vintage is good.

I'm not a big enough fan of cheddar cheese melted in grease to really like El Tiempo.

Both the Italian places in Vintage are good IMO.

Mel's for breakfast or lunch is always good.

Yup, right next to the Chase Bank and CVS. I met the owner opening week, and he's a great guy. The chicken was fresh, lots of dipping sauces to choose from, and I liked the fries. Hope you guys get a chance to try it!

Shredded beef or barbacoa.

They are closed on Sundays and all holidays.
