Any suggestions?
The google implies that there are only 3 different German restaurants in Houston, but I find that hard to believe.

I fckin love Rudi's

I have been craving some good german food. The place in downtown Bryan is actually pretty good.

Houston is weak on German food. I'm not a fan of Rudi Lechner's. Red cabbage is way too sweet for example. It's not that it's terrible, there just isn't a lot of competition out there.

I've been to Kings Biergarten in Pearland and the food was good.

Apparently Galveston has a German tavern on the Strand now. I don't know first hand if it's good but it has good reviews

Bar Munich

Rudis is good not great. But, that's fine by me.

Rudi has nothing to do with the location anymore and his kitchen staff left as well. South East Asian owners FWIW....

Lake Jackson has a decent one but the name escapes me.

It does suck that Rudi no longer owns it but I still think the quality has stayed good.

Place on Lake Jackson is WurstHaus and is ok but Rudis is still 10 better in my opinion.

Alpine Brauhaus in Clear Lake has had good reviews. I miss What's Cookin in Kemah.

Oak Leaf Smokehouse on Telephone Rd has German potato salad. It's a bbq joint but at least the potato salad is German.

Rudi's used to be great, now it's just good.

Houston needs a Hofbrauhaus. If Newport, KY can support one, so can we.

Zum Barrel Tavern is kind of German. I haven't been there but they are having an Oktoberfest event with an a German ompa band Wed and Thurs, $15 sample as much karbach as you like.

Went to the one in Munich and had a blast. 2 years later went to the one in Vegas and wanted to cry but instead I just drank a lot of beer.

The one in Las Vegas feels more like a museum, rather than a bar/restaraunt. They were trying to create a copy of the original, rather than building a place that blends into the community. The Hofbrauhaus in Newport has a more neighborhood feel, better prices, and they brew the beer on site. I would imagine the other franchise locations are like this one, rather than the Las Vegas location.

Kings Biergarten in Pearland has their annual Oktoberfest this weekend. I'm going Saturday night with a group of ten. We have a blast everytime we go there. I definetly recommend going, more of a lively crowd with live music. Food is great, though some items are better at Rudi's. I go to Rudi's a lot because it's close.
I wish we could get a Hofbruhaus here. I've been to the original in Munich, and Las Vegas and Panama City. Me and my buddies could keep one open ourselves. Bar Munich is great for beer, brats, and awesome soft pretzels, but not many other food choices.

Sometimes I forget how convenient it is having King's walking distance from the house...

I like rudi lechners. My German neighbors tell me Charivari is good, but I've never been. Old Heidelberg was meh the last time I went, which was years ago.
