Outlaw Daves Ice House on Washington?

Someone told me the old Spectators(i think is the name?) spot on Washington near I-10 (just south of IHOP) was recently/about to be purchased by Outlaw Dave and the plan is to open an Ice House in the near future.

Anyone else heard this? Old news? Am i making sh-t up?

I sort of hope that's the case because i imagine it'd do wonders getting the crotchety old f-ckers out of Bubbas for a good while, maybe even give them a new home.
If the old scoundrels left Bubbas, it would basically just be us.
Which is sort of what i'm hoping for.
we need to convine the bartender/waitresses from the hideaway to move to bubbas
Wow...that just blew my mind. How about all 3 of the hot ones from the Hideaway?
Bad news guys. I've met the guy who recently bought Bubba's and apparently he is planning on changing the bar, for the worse in my opinion. Wants to make it more club-like including changing the name and a complete re-do of the inside.

I'm not sure if he is actually going to go through with it, but thats the plan at the moment. Sounds like he wants a Pub Fiction type atmosphere but more "high class".
Eff that. I guess I will be going to another place.
When did Bubba's have a change of ownership? After they closed down for a bit and reopened (last year I believe), I was told ownership remained the same.
I was secretly hoping that lot would be turned into a Kirby Laane's... even though they're only in Austin.

Sounds like we need to have a chat with him soon which may or may not include violence. Only thing that I heard was that he was trying to open up the deck as sort of a separate bar from Bubbas. They deck & bar is pretty solid, but they never have the bar back there open.
heisatouchdown and I have waaaayyyyyy different taste in food. I will no longer break balls on that. To each their own
Bubbas food is good....no reason to change the food selection.

I wouldn't feed Kirby Lane to my dog.
Haha I just like their flapjacks and cowboy queso. I've literally never had anything else there.
Yeah from what I can tell, he wants the outside deck to remain the same but the interior to be more club like. He didn't say Pub Fiction, but thats what it sounded like he was going for.

Oh and I have not heard this straight from his mouth, but I know his daughter and thats how she explained it. So maybe some of the details were lost in translation.

Ownership changed about 6 months ago or so. They hired a GM who was a hyper d-wsh and had a resume full of tanning salon management/bouncer/promoter type bull sh-t and was trying to go the 'typical washington' route. He ended up quitting(thank god) about a month ago because it wasnt happening.

They've already started doing some re-do work on the interior by putting new cedar planks on the walls/ceilings, which is cool. They've got the 'deck' about done, and it's basically a nicer version of what it was.

I think the indian dude thats one of the owners (also owns manor) is hoping it gets to the typical washington type bar, but i'm not sure the other owner wants the same thing. Luckily for everyone, it's in a location thats not consistant with the typical washington bar, so it generally doesnt draw those types. An it's set up and has the feel of a dive sports bar, which would require a scrape to change.

My guess is it's future is a slightly nicer looking version of it's current self.
Has the service and food gotten better at Bubba's recently?
I stopped going there a couple years ago because all the waitresses were short, fat, rude trolls who looked like they were about to pass out every time they brought some by-then cold food to the table.
BTWm, I think bubbas is going to be the location of my annual all day drinking/watching the NCAA on Friday.

It's actually worse. I'd stay as far away as possible.
I haven't been there since Nov./Dec. 2011. I know Emily and Anthony well, and they didn't mention much about the "changes". That said, they're not the management or ownership.

Us too I believe FWA. Has been the last two years running for that Friday, may as well make it a 3rd.
I'm down for some all day drinking and NCAA. Usually in Vegas but not this year.
