So I was reading the wikipedia about them
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walton_&_Johnson_Show

The gay dude and the redneck dude are the same person? I always hear two people talking over each other. Who is the other person?

johnson does his own voice but also is the voice behind 3 other characters. the gay guy, the country guy, and the black guy. walton doesn't voice any characters.

You will notice the three never talk at the same time...if they do it's recorded.

I'm not a fan...rather they just shut up and play music...

Completely agree, but for all morning shows...They talk about the worst topics and aren't funny, just play music.

I stopped listening two them a couple of years ago because all they did was piss and moan about illegal immigration. Have they moved on to a new topic yet?

Kind of wrong..

Walton is the only person who uses his regular voice and doesn't play a character.

Steve Johnson voices Billy Ed (country guy), Mr Eaux (black guy), Mr. Kenneth (gay guy), but there is no 'Steve Johnson' on the show. Steve may use his regular speaking voice for one of the 3 characters above, but I'm not sure of this. He may make up a voice for all 3 characters, which means his regular voice is not heard on the show.

John Walton doesn't use a character when speaking, and I assume that is his regular speaking voice.

If you listen, you'll never hear kenneth, mr. eaux, or billy ed talk at same time. you'll only hear one of them talk while walton is talking..
However, Johnson can quickly go from, say, kenneth to billy ed.. (almost as if billy ed interrupted kenneth.)

wrong Tim. Johnson does use his normal voice, but only very, VERY rarely. At least he did occasionally when they were on KLOL (and later KIOL)

Yeah, I've heard Steve speak in his real voice once or twice before

so is his voice different than all of the characters he does on the show?

Yes...sometimes if you catch the show REALLY early he talks in his normal voice.

I listened to them when they were in Dallas until I got tired of it...now I can only take them in small doses...

Let me state honestly, so you can understand any possible bias, that I have been listening to Walton and Johnson here in Louisiana on 98.1 and recently on 105.1 since I was a liberal at the age of 22 until now that I am a conservative (mostly) ((leaving room for where I disagree with the old white men that run the country, and the ones that run this radio show* lol)) at the age of 32 and state matter of factly that it isn't rare that Steve Johnson uses his actual voice on the radio. I am a fan of voice acting and I respect Steve for how he naturally transitions between the characters without the aid of RECORDING (as one user mentioned incorrectly, though probably mistakenly. He prides himself on this as well as confirmed with a conversation I had with him over the phone) so I can assure you that I listen with a dedicated interest in the very topic that this thread is relevant to. Mostly he speaks through Billy Ed (country guy) or Mr. Kenneth (gay guy) because they are more natural to him but he has to reach outside of his usual range for Mr. Eaux (black guy) and all three represent a separate demographic of the viewers of their show and is curtailed by the email responses they get for certain topics. If you listen to the show before 6 AM you are sure to hear Steve Johnson in his usual voice, which is a less feminine version of Mr. Kenneth's voice. Kenneth is the closest to his regular voice. It's mostly only higher pitch. It's akin to a man doing a woman's voice. Take that away, and it's Steve Johnson's voice. The show starts at 5. so between commercial breaks you might manage a good 30-40 minutes of Steve Johnson before the other characters arrive to work for their respective jobs. (Radio Operations Engineer for Billy Ed, Sanitation Department Officer for Mr. Eaux, and I'm not sure what Mr. Kenneth's designated title is but he manages most of the interviews performed in the show. ((mostly in jest of course. These are fictional characters and do not hold any position at the physical offices from which the crew operates. Most interviews performed on the show are just streamed youtube videos that the crew finds most appropriate for today's show)))

They are pretty funny but were way more lewd and crewd back when they were on Rock 101. Nowadays its mostly political talk with lots of liberal bashing, not that there is anything wrong with that.

When I worked construction I'd listen to them religiously from 6-10. Johnson is super talented to keep those characters in line.

I know Sara, who was their producer when they first moved to Houston. (She's on 96.5 as a dj now) I went to a Ted Nugent concert with Sara and Steve a few years ago. Really nice guy and yes you can hear the resemblance of Mr Kenneth in his normal voice. The first year we played LSU in the SEC, Steve and a buddy came and hung out at our tailgate. When they do the show, the glass looking into the studio from the hallway is blocked to keep people who are walking down the hall to see inside

I know Steve very well. He speaks in all his voices very regularly on the show as well as his own voice regularly. The only things that are pre recorded are any ads that they do or spoof ads on the show. Everything he does on the show is live.

Damn I wish someone would post all the old Uncle Waldo's on a site somewhere. I had heard a few years ago that Jim still had all the old show recordings. Not sure what happened to them now that he's passed
