I saw they just demolished the old car dealership buildings, any clues what the plans are for that lot?

I think that is the spot for Costco.

I'm pretty sure Costco is going to Central/Churchill/Coit

Costco is going in at Central/Coit. NW Hwy and Abrams is getting a shopping center

I think that location is perfect for an academy.

Watching this one closely, live nearby. Would have loved a Costco there.

Already a Sports Authority, REI, and ***** nearby.

Not sure about needing an Academy.

Already got 2 Target, Kohls, JCP, Walmart, SAMs and HD also.

Well anything is better than the eyesore it was.

That is closing. My wife and I were discussing what kind of big-box would even fit there. As you said, we have most major retailers within 3 miles of that intersection, the furthest being Best Buy up at 75/Park.

I wonder if Lowes might look there. I feel like their MO is to build right next to existing Home Depot's

That was my instinct as well. Knock that sorry mini-Home Depot off that hill.

I wouldn't mind a Lowes.

That HD is a circus anyway and the access in and out sucks. Although I'm down at NW Hwy and Lake Highlands so the Lowes at Jupiter is close.

Thought about Best Buy too. The absolute coolest would be Trader Joes. But not the right demographic. Michaels on Greenville and Bed bath and beyond are also close but possibilities.

I really can't think of one big box chain that isn't within a couple of miles of there already.

And it's not like it is a trendy area.

Seems like it could support a Fiesta, nail salon, payday loan, used car super center.

I know you are joking but there is a fiesta less than a mile down Abrams

Put in something that will maybe help clean up the area -- those apartments along the north side of NW highway between HPB and Abrams have some of the worst crime in the city.

How This 'Urban In-Fill' Project Is Showing Transition
Quote:

The December plan also indicated a 62,943-square-foot lease labeled "Academy," a 15,000-square-foot lease labeled "Party City," a 20,000-square-foot lease labeled "Marshalls," and a 20,000-square-foot lease labeled "Ross."

I guess the Party City will be coming from Medallion across NW Highway. Academy will be nice, but pretty disappointed in the others. When I looked up that company's other projects in Houston, I remember their tenant mixes were pretty "meh".

There is a fantastic Aggie dentist located near the SEC of that intersection though.
