Life changed for Troy and Vicky Bridier while vacationing. It was on Aug 16, 2016, they noticed that their four year old daughter Jade's right eye started to cross. Poor Jade not knowing said, "Mommy I see two of you." It was that moment that would change her life. Upon returning home Jade was taken to the hospital where a CT scan was taken. Doctors were concerned with the scan, but attributed it to Jade possibly moving around during the process. Troy and Vicky then decided to go to a specialist in Katy, who was 99% sure it was a viral infection common in kids and would go away in a month.
Wanting more answers, Troy and Vicky set up for Jade to have a MRI. On Wednesday, August 24, 2016, they received the worst news any parent can get. Jade had a tumor on her brain stem that there was no cure for or anyway to remove it. Troy and Vicky were told they would have maybe one month left with their precious Jade. They took Jade home to be surrounded by family and friends. In just one week Jade's condition had gone from a happy joyful baby girl running and playing with her sister and new dog "crash" to not even able to eat, drink, talk, or walk. The most rapid change in a person's condition I have personally ever seen.
On August 25, Jade and Vicky were flown to Texas children's hospital by the Kangaroo crew and Troy flew there too, courtesy of some black and white patrol cars. There the news didn't get much better. They were told Jade had DIPG, which is a very serious tumor on the brain stem that controls the major functions of the brain.
Troy and Vicky were told that they could provide Jade with radiation and steroid treatments to bring her back to as close to normal as they could. The treats consist of 5 days a week traveling to Texas children's for the next six weeks to reduce the size of the tumor. Due to the side effects of the radiation treatment it can only last six weeks. They were told this treatment may give them up to a year with Jade, but the tumor would grow back. They are currently still at Texas children's looking and praying for more answers.
