When did it become legal to state only a certain gender?

It is not legal for a landlord to advertise/discriminate based on gender, but it is for roommates. It is entirely reasonable that a girl already living there would not want to live with a guy.

Perhaps. Just wondering because I had a friend have issues with something like this a few years back.
