Definitely the best route. Just remember that you'll need a toll tag for 99 (Grand Pkwy). No cash accepted.

Is the connection between 99 and the Hardy complete?

I don't know. I travel 99 to 45 pretty often but not farther east.

I think it's best to go 99 to I45 then exit 1960. That feeds right into Hardy which gets you to airport. They haven't completed all Hardy tie ins yet. More difficult coming home because Hardy not tied in directly with 99 yet.

You can also take 99 to I45---and then go north on the service road to the next exit; which will then feed into Hardy toll road. Sort of a U-turn, but avoids the 1960 congestion.

Depending on the time of day 99 to 45 is a huge bottleneck.

Depending on the weather 99 could be under water.

I live near 99 and 2920 and every swinging time it's rained 17 inches in one night the thing has flooded.

why not just take Beltway 8?

Beltway 8 carries much more traffic and to rechargeable it you have to go through either the Magnolia cluster or 290 construction delays.

You can also take 1960 all the way just past the airport. Take the exit for 1960 Business at the gas station there and turn right at the 1st right (Lee Rd.). That will take you to Will Clayton (turn right for the airport, or turn left for the 3rd party parking lots).

Also, 99 isn't like the toll roads in Austin with the Pay by Mail and getting the same rate. There is a huge extra charge by HCTRA for not having a tag, unlike in Austin.

there's a $5 fee in addition to the toll for the segment.

What does that mean?

if you don't have a toll tag (or there's an issue with your current one), you're charged $5 + the toll per segment.
