For others with landlines, did you receive a letter recently notifying you that Frontier Communications Corp will be taking over Texas customer's local and long distance services from Verizon in the next several months?

FRONTIER COMMUNICATIONS WELCOMES VERIZON'S CALIFORNIA, TEXAS AND FLORIDA CUSTOMERS.

We are Frontier Communications, the preferred communications provider for millions across America. We have announced plans to acquire Verizon's wireline operations in California, Texas and Florida at the end of March 2016including Verizon FiOS. Our customers are our first priority, and can expect a smooth transition, backed by superior levels of customer service and support. Together, we are Frontier.

Re landlines---Verizon seemed to follow the government "business" model: when demand (and revenue) go down, you raise your rates to bring in more $$, thereby chasing off more of your customers.

Frontier can't be any worse than Verizon. Ironically, the Verizon repairmen who have shown up over the years always end our visit with " I hope you stay with us since lots of people are bailing and I need a job."
Then it takes 2 weeks to get them out when service disappears.

Agreed they can't be any worse... Will be interesting to see if they are funded any better now. It was obvious verizon has been getting out of the hardwire game and investing in their wireless network.

Hopefully they offer a really cheap option because I would love to get a second provider as a backup when suddenlink goes down.

Wonder if they'll still do phone books.
