Students parking in the GSC parking lot (Lot 88)

I'm not complaining, but am curious. When the lot starts filling up completely, I'll complain.

I've noticed that the GSC parking lot is pretty full lately. I see lots of lot 100 permits. From what I can tell, students are parking in 88 and riding the bus to campus. Did Transportation Services change something, or have the students figured this out?

Any permit is valid in that lot. And there are a lot of students that work in the GSC or go to the GSC for things like id cards, etc.

Also, there are more students than parking in lot 100.
Today being a bball game that may be the only place for them to park.
During the week they may have to park there and catch bus 6 into campus. During the week ptts has to direct traffic because the roads get as congested as on football game days.

Staff are under mandatory parking increases for the next (now 4 more) years.
These are people who work there, but while raises may not happen, parking cost are going up; with one of the reasons given is to help fund more garages.

That's due to the fact ptts doesn't have the money yet for the other garages. The Cain hall hotel bs one is mandated by sharp and funded by the builder. I doubt the garage is bigger than enough spots for occupants. There isn't enough room/land for anything more.
Rumors of garage sites are out by white creek apartments, at te new vet school building across from former physical plant, and out in research park.

hasn't been ptts for almost 15 years now.....

Chancellor's motto - "screw the other guy and pass the savings on to you....." The "other guy" are football fans. You are on the receiving end. Also per several friends who work at the physical plant and dining, they pay 8.25% sales tax too.

Don't remember the signs, but I do remember some bikes getting removed to a more vertical location... Usually right over the racks...

The bike rack pictures are funny. I had a few classes in the Langford/Scoates/Richardson area in the 08-10 time frame. It seemed like the same broke down bikes (flat tires, chains hanging off gears) were taking up desperately needed space in the bike racks, semester after semester. I think, wherever bike racks are proposed, inflate that number by 5 and you might have enough.

actually abandoned bikes are removed every year and the university sells them. Most are too lazy to park a bike more than ten feet from the front door so there is no way to have enough space. a simple call to Transportation yielded that information.This thread is just full of misinformation....
