Trees being cut down near the corner of Longmire and Barron. Just curious why.

They were dying. They will be replaced.

Not 100% sure but I would guess they were growing into the power lines. You can tell they were planting in ROW and the utility company has the right to take them down. The other side of the street without the electric lines has been left alone. Just my guess.

Another guess is that the owner wanted to remove them?

The tree cutting along Longmire is indeed part of the City's trail project, and the ones cut were removed because they were diseased with fire blight. Several had already died. And the trees under the power lines were being damaged and not viable long term because of their annual trimming by BTU. Next spring (assuming the trail project is completed by then) the SpringBrook Homeowner's Association will be replanting this area with trees more suitable for life under power lines.

Anyone with questions about these projects may call me at 979-690-7870.
