Is Freebirds closing? I keep seeing things on Twitter about it leaving.

If this were 10 or so years ago, I would be sad about it....today, not so much.

I miss the old Freebirds
I do too.
I miss gettin yelled at to "move down" and end up paying before my order was taken.
I miss getting to skip ahead if people who don't know what they want and spend 10 minutes looking at the menu.
I miss the real sizes, this new "monster" is the size of the old free bird.

Used to love freebirds... but that was a long time ago... quality of their food has gone to hell.
Used to be able to get a monster and a drink for $7.25 and it was HUUUGE.
Ate there 1 million times in college (estimate)
I noticed when the service spoons got smaller, and the prices went up the first time. I get prices going up. But I was not fooled by the spoon change.
I eat Chipotle now. Jasmine rice with cilantro is what got me hooked and changed.
I'll still eat freebirds occasionally, but agree that when they sold out the quality went down.

Looks like they moved their HQ to Austin and apparently Frito and Katy on Candy 95 said something which started some twitter responses.
I miss old freebirds too... this town is ripe for a new startup Bird clone. Chipotle is dog food in comparison.

The good days have passed...meaning when the quality made Freebirds worth going to. They've been going downhill for years. Buh bye.
I go to Freebirds literally every week. I have no problem with it at all. Been going since 1989. Ive been to Chipotle excactly twice ever.
Same here. I just ask for extra meat and fork over the extra money. Food cost is pretty high so I have no issue paying 12 bucks for a pretty good size meal. Little lime juice and mild sauce and I'm good to go.
Well the people who love mediocre food are outing themselves

I think the prices have gone up and i miss their old bbq sauce. Other than that i think its still ok.

They haven't had their HQ in College Station in a LOOOOOOONG time. Maybe 15-17 months after they were bought, they closed the business office in CS.
Do we know if this is true? I can't imagine Freebirds leaving College Station.
If its originating from some idiots on 95.1, then no, it's not likely legit, though closing one of their locations is entirely plausible.
It all went to hell when they were bought out and they got rid of the steamers for the tortilla irons. Now the tortillas taste like cardboard.

I quit going after the latest price hike ~8 months ago. The food isn't great and the new prices are ridiculous.
