Yeah there's a number of interesting house specialties that kind of set them apart, as someone said earlier.

Ate there today. Got a po boy and wasn't impressed. Wanted something like Ragin Cajun down in Houston. My margarita was pretty terrible. The Po Boy wasn't bad, it was just meh. The etouffee my wife got was better but doubt we'll return.

It's usually solid logic to never return to an establishment after trying 3% of the menu

Many people associate a particular cuisine with a signature dish. If a place doesn't measure up in that context, it's not unreasonable to go somewhere else.

I think it's very unreasonable, especially when a restaurant is so new. Now if something egregious happened, then sure. But you didn't care for one entree on the menu, so you won't be back? Seems a bit ridiculous, especially given the lack of "variety" in actual good food in this town. There are good restaurants and good chains, but it's definitely not a food community

We ate there last week-end. Hubby had the fried catfish and shrimp. I had the fried shrimp and shrimp etouffe . Each of these was delicious. The shrimp were not overcooked, even though my plate had the smaller size. The etouffe roux was really good. We shared the jalapeno appetizer (rat toes), and it was very hot! (and good). We also shared one of those fishbowl drinks. The flavor was just pleasant, but it does have a kick.

It's a fun place to go, but you're not going to be able to have a quiet conversation there.

It's funny, but just the other day we saw a news story about that. Many places nowadays are intentionally making their environment more noisy. Before we heard the actual reason for it, my wife thought maybe it was to get patrons to leave earlier than they might otherwise since it's harder to just linger around talking, thus opening up that table for the next group. The real reason turned out to be the thinking is that younger patrons enjoy more of a "party" atmosphere, and that relates to a noisier environment in a restaurant or bar.

Something else to help you decide whether you are an "old" or not.

Its not like I'm hurting for good places to eat. I gave them a shot, they were underwhelming, so thats that. If you like it or want to give resteraunts multiple shots then thats fantastic but with so many options for good food I'm not going to give out many do overs without reason. You've got to give me a reason to return - I don't need to hope for it. And really, at BEST a chain like Razoos isn't something I'm going to lose sleep over missing. Not exactly fine dining.

I'm definitely an old. If I have to raise my voice to carry on a conversation, that's no good. I first noticed it in bars (not clubs) more than a decade ago. The next place I noticed it was in Vegas Strip casinos. Heaven forbid we be able to carry on a conversation in a normal tone of voice like civilized people. If I want to go to a rave, I'll ask around. I'm sure that won't get any attention at all. Now, if you'll kindly get off my lawn, Judge Wapner is about to come on.

I can see how it's aimed at the young. Loud places like Cheddars stay packed with the younger crowd. Heck, we've got 50,000 college students in town. May as well have some restaurants they like.

Went last night and loved it. Nice draft beer enjoyed my Dallas blonde. We shared crawfish fondue dip that was amazing! I had tilapia which had a crab and shrimp creamy topping and it was pretty good. I would prefer it blackened I think it was lightly breaded and baked. My wife had creole shrimp which she liked but I thought was too sweet. Our friend got the crawfish etouffe which I thought was fantastic and will get next time. It was above average spicey which I enjoy.

I will be back!

I went last night too and had the crawfish etouffee. It was very good. Good sized portion and $10 less than Pappadeux. I've never had the dinner portion of crawfish etouffee at Swamp Tails so I can't compare portions but Razzoo's etouffee costs less than Swamp Tails's too. Although I do like Hebert's etouffee, I prefer Razzoo's/Pappadeaux's version with the dark roux and dirty rice.

It's been a while since I've had etouffee at Pappadeux but from my recollection, Razzoo's etouffee is as good. However, the wife doesn't like fried seafood and there wasn't much else on the menu she wanted so she'd prefer Pappadeaux given a choice. But I compared prices and the 2 appetizers, bowl of gumbo, and etouffee we ordered was $37 at Razzoo's and $60 at Pappadeaux!

Tried the place out. Food was pretty good. Definitely like the batter flavor and the drinks were good. Unfortunately we felt pretty rushed. We recieved our check no more than 10 minutes after receiving our food. 25 minute wait and 20 minutes to receive our food. Not terrible by any means, but would rather not have our check brought to us before we even have a chance to enjoy our meal. We will try it again when the staff is a little better trained.
