We have a sweet female mastiff hanging out at our house. My daughter has called the number on dogs leash, but was told to call the pound Monday.

The dog was found on shadowwood drive off Southwest Parkway.

Found pets can be scanned for microchips at the Banfield Vet Clinic in Petsmart, other vet clinics and by animal control.

One tip I saw recently was to ask the claiming owners for a receipt from their vet or call the vet to confirm ownership. My vet does have a photo of my dog/cat on my receipts. Or you can ask for photo of the animal.

Also, putting a sign out where animal was found might be helpful.

How the heck do you lose a mastiff?

Haha. Actually the owner said this 14 month old gentle giant didn't go under the fence, she went THROUGH it. One of our dogs is half Rottweiler half Lab and consequently not a small dog. This mastiff puppy was 30% larger than our dog.
