Taqueria del sol corner of Texas and Villa maria in the shopping center.

OP what kind of place are you looking for? High end, casual, ethnic, etc.?

Probably just casual

We know the higher end places we like to go.

Probably don't need any Mexican food joints on list either.. There are so many mom- pop tex mex joints in Bryan. Been to many and all are pretty good.

One that hasn't been mentioned, but on our list is Taz Indian Cuisine. Now they have a location in College Station and downtown Bryan.

Mickey's, Frittella, Burger House, Caffe Capri, Taz, Zand's...some of my favorites, and they tend to either be heavy on the veggie offerings, or have at least one killer veggie offering, y'know, if you're into that sorta friendly thing.

Here's your burger joints. Good stuff. We'll start in the north.

Top of the Hill in Benchley off West OSR. Fabulous burgers, worth the drive.

Near 21 & 6 hit Sodelak's for inexpensive steaks and good burgers.

Head east on 21 to grab good burgers at Joe's Place. They're near the flashing yellow light in Wickson Creek.

At Briarcrest hit Charlie Mac's new place, Flip & Peel across the street from Chic fil a. Excellent gourmet burgers.

Head down 30 toward Huntsville and stop at Smitty K's. Cement floors, picnic tables on the porch, and games on the TVs.

Head out to Carlos on 30, swing a left at the road to Iola and stop at Yankee's Tavern. Good old fashioned burgers.

Finally, if you haven't had a Banger Burger at Harvey Washbanger's lately, it's worth another visit.

Those should keep you busy for a while.

Just casual: Amico Nave, Napa Flats, Cafe Eccell 2.0, Fritella, Boneheads, Grub Burger Bar.

Somewhere between casual and almost fancy: Cenare, La Riviera.

That new Mideast restaurant in Bryan, Babylon Cafe looks real funky from the outside...much more appealing decor than either Zand's or Shiraz...might be an option.

Another thumbs up for Taz...both of them.

Proudest Monkey in downtown Bryan might fit the bill as it has some interesting burgers and tacos.

The German place (Brauhaus?) in downtown Bryan is pretty casual.

Lanna Thai in Bryan in same strip mall as Babylon Cafe and La Riviera is casual and nice.

Luigi's in CS off of Rock Prairie, and Azure, the Japanese food and sake bar might work too.

Happy trails.

Went to Babylon Cafe last week. It's new and delicious. The service is not there at all yet and they still need to work out some kinks but the food is excellent. Definitely recommend take-out from there.

Shiraz is fantastic. I've eaten at Zand's a few times, and it's pitiful compared to Shiraz. Arbano cafe at Holleman/Dartmouth is decent, but their beef and lamb are pretty bad; their vegetarian dishes are good.

I'll have to try Babylon soon.

So we tried Babylon.

It was hit and miss. The lamb kebab was great, the rest of the food was pretty good.

The service was crazy slow. The drinks are no-refill and you cannot have tap water; they sell bottled for a dollar.

Overall, the lamb was as good as Shiraz, but nothing was better than Shiraz. Considering that and the other factors I discuss above, I'll stick with Shiraz, especially since Shiraz has a much more broad menu.
