Posting for a friend who had his dog let out by the meter guy (again).

My dog was let out of the yard by the power man while checking the meter. She was last seen around welsh and Harvey Mitchell. She is a 2yr old blue heeler with pink collar and is fully vaccinated and tagged. I am offering a reward if found, please contact me at tel256) 452-9674](256) 452-9674.Here is a picture of Dixie: http://imgur.com/vr9J0LX

These are action items, resources, contact information to help recovering missing dogs. They have been proven helpful more than a few times.

If needed email photo to eyesmellratz@yahoo.com, she will post for you here.

Check shelters daily, personally visiting all holding areas.

This is another excellent resource: BrazosLostAndFoundPets@gmail.com
She has good connections between multiple networks. Her facebook page is http://www.facebook.com/BrazosLostAndFoundPets

Contact microchip registry and make certain they have current contact info and notify them pet is on the loose.

Watch this thread for updates from others. There are some folks who will post and not call or email.

Suggest putting a sign in front of house and where pet was last seen right away with a photo of dog and contact information.

Also, when checking Craigslist Check at least 7 sections on CRAIGSLIST!
People will post about pets on several of the Craigslist sections. Oftentimes it is because someone finds a pet and after a few days, weeks, or even months decides they cannot find the owner and cannot keep the pet. They will give them away for free or sell them. Sometimes people try to breed them. Check these sections on Craigslist regularly:
Community: Lost and Found, Pets, General
For Sale: Free, General
Services: Pet
Check areas surrounding College Station too, such as Houston, deep east TX. Found pets offered for sale or free in all of these sections!! Be aware that people also will not necessarily state that the pet is found, so keep your search broad.

Be aggressive. The harder you work, the luckier you are.

Thanks for that!

We've posted at all of the above places, so now it's a man hunt and calling the shelters.

Thank you again for your help!

CS Meter reader just left our gated unlatched for the 2nd time this year. Luckily no escape this time.

Perhaps a remedial class in "gate shutting".

I am fortunate that I can leave my dogs in the house when away and have formally requested that prior to entering my backyard the readers must ring my door bell so I can bring them in prior to my yard being entered. That is in their handheld device and has been almost always followed. Before letting the dogs back out I check the gate. If you have that flexibility it might be helpful.

Another thought would be to call CS Utilities and ask that a notation be entered into the readers' device that the gate must be carefully and securely closed.

I also note on my calendar the date for next reading that is at the bottom of the bill. That day I check the gate when I come back home in case the reader did not secure the latch.
