one element might eventually be something like this for a freight shuttle.

This is the first I have heard of this. It may be years...years....years....away, but is very possible with enough federal funding.

Is it shovel-ready?

using an existing highway route will definitely assist. Hwy 21 / 190 is already under construction to make remaining 2 lane parts 4 lane in our area, but that leg around Lake Livingston would be a pretty substantial project.

I also was unaware of a potential Little River Reservoir outside Cameron.

The Little River site has been designated, along with a handful of other sites, as a possible reservoir location for a few years. From my understanding, it's unlikely to be built, but it does have the effect of depressing land values in the area because of the (remote) possibility that land will be flooded.

my 2 cents worth...if a large interstate project is planned for the gulf states it seems like improving all hurricane evacuation routes would need to be a big part of the funding sales pitch.

I would probably make hurricane evacuation routes a higher priority than an east-west interstate. But I-10 definitely needs relief from a traffic standpoint. And traveling from the Hill Country (Austin) to East Texas (Lufkin) definitely takes a while.

Since they havent even gotten near to getting I-69 going (that is the Hwy59 thru Houston route), this one is probably light years away. Too bad too - It would give me a direct link to my hometown in Louisiana.

did you make those route maps yourself?

nah, I can barely make a MS Paint bmp.

The entire route has these zoom images for each section for possible routing, I grabbed the ones close to our area.
