My gut says it's a really young frostweed. Can't even really tell though.

1.5oz/a Sharpen has been pretty successful early season.

Don't forget to use the full rate of MSO (1% v/v) and AMS (1% w/v). Do not substitute COC or NIS for the MSO. Sharpen is a great herbicide following the adjuvant requirements of the label.

What about Virginia Buttonweed right now. Just exploded in my St. Augustine and appears to be getting thicker every day.

Is there anything that can be done now to knock it down and prevent it from coming back next year?

Marshelder = sumpweed = iva annua. Just sprayed some very mature marshelder with Sharpen at 1 oz/a plus 0.5 oz Cimarron plus 1% MSO. 10 days later, crispy sticks. Excellent safety on grass.

What is the advantage of Sharpen over 2,4-D ?

I have been using 2,4-D the past 2 seasons and I thought it was working pretty well. It is hard to beat the price, I think. But I would definitely change if I find out Sharpen is better. I like 2,4-D because I can use it on any of the broadleafs that have overrun parts of the pasture...... marshelder, mustard, broomweed, cocklebur, etc...... don't have to change to a different herbicide.

Sharpen has zero drift risk, has excellent burndown ability, and is completely safe on all grasses as well as legumes. So your clovers will be safe after a Sharpen spray in the fall. It works damn fast too.

It's good to mix up your MOA as well.

Thanks. May as well try it next year.

Do half and half or something along those lines to see if it fits. The 2oz rate offers excellent residual control.

Biggest downsize of Sharpen is the use rate is 1-2oz/AC, but it is only sold in gallon containers (128 oz). So at $5-7+/oz it is pricey for someone with 10 acres.

Just glyphosate? No need to add 2-4-D?
Allen76

Glyphosate is a non-selective herbicide. It kills everything.... With very few exceptions

You would use 2,4-d if you only wanted to kill broadleaf weeds and let the grass live.

Do you have brush? What are the predominant weeds? How much fenceline do you actually spray? How often do you want to spray vs pay for residual?

It's my lot which is 2 acres. Lol nothing big. And I have glyphosate just was thinking about adding some 24d to it

For no brush I would just use roundup. If you had brush or wanted added control Remedy would be a good add in if you wanted. 2,4D would be acceptable as well.

2,4D can just drift so easily in small equipment with wrong nozzles and uncalibrated sprayers.

It'd be a hand or backpack sprayer. If I wanted it to last, would remedy help?
fightingfarmer09

Remedy would not provide residual. Chaparral or a Grazon product. But if you have desirable landscape plants or trees these products will likely kill them long term.

I think Roundup is your best bet without assessing all of the other variables.
