Bear Kills Deer in yard

The video isn't bad, but dear lord that sound. I couldn't imagine what my wife would do if she looked out the back yard and saw that happening.

I hope the bear had the courtesy to at least clean up. The only thing worse than the sound is the homeowner going out to have to clean up his yard afterwards..

Goodness gracious, I couldn't watch more than 5-10 seconds of that; that was more than enough to get the picture. My wife would have also completely lost it.

Nature has no remorse.

No kidding RK, if i was that deer i would take a rifle shot or arrow any day of the week over that....

I figure the deer must have been wounded or lame. I have a hard time imagining how a bear could catch a healthy deer. Not impossible, but highly unlikely it would seem.

That is either a huge doe or a small bear.

There is no way in hell I would let a bear make my backyard his hunting territory.

That was my thought as well. I do believe in a situation like that I may have a bunch of meat to be processed pretty quick.

PETA should organize a front-and-center bear protest. Extra points if they use their blood covered fur coats.

Hope folks realize that is a black bear, and a fairly small one at that (look at the ears).

I have no doubt that either the homeowner, or an adjacent neighbor, is feeding deer. A bear can easily catch a deer if it only needs a 20-30' burst.

That would be an extremely easy bear to deal with. Keep in mind, that might literally be the only "kill" it makes this years. Pop it 2 maybe 3 times, have a happy chasing party (any former Philmont staff knows what I am talking about) and you'll never see that bear again.

I thought the bear seemed a bit on the young/small side, but that was a completely uneducated guess.

I sure as hell wouldn't be standing on a open-air patio ~10 yards from the action. No sir.

Some of the worst injuries I have seen were inflicted by a 124 lbs sow black bear.

Wait a few hours and that bear will leave a big steaming pile of longhorn football in his yard.

Yeah. You would have heard at least 2 shots coming from my back deck. Hopefully no more than 3.

This is the reason I have a .308. Although I think I'd have sidearm ready. I know nothing about hunting bears, and might just pepper that badboy until he wasn't 20 feet from my house.
