I'm 99% certain they can't but was talking to a guy and he's adamant it occurs, however infrequently. I don't want to call the dude a tard and be wrong.

They can. My dad had a friend who has a cat that is 3/8 or 1/4 bobcat.

What are their species?
For two animals to be a separate species they must be able to not only breed, but produce viable offspring.

There isn't much genetic variation between dogs, coyotes, and wolves. There's actually a pretty decent genetic difference between house cats and bobcats.

Keep in mind that a lot of people online sell what they claim are Wolf/Dog mixes, or "domesticated wolves" when they are not.

Same could easily be true of the Bobcat/house cat situation.

I get the occasional pixiebob reports, but alas, they've been determined to be house cats with no linkage to bobcats.

bobcats are more hungry than horny, therefore I reckon they would eat the house cat.
