That was taken at our deer lease. We are about halfway between Rocksprings and Camp Wood. The wife thought he looked cool. On another note, my wife scored her first "bow" kill about 2 hours after that picture was taken.

A paperclip can be deadly to humans. Same with a stapler. A piece of paper. The tape dispenser. This calculator. The desk phone. My computer mouse....

Basically I'm just looking at stuff on my desk and given the right situation anything here could kill a person.


If you are asking is it venomous then the answer is yes. Venomous but likely not deadly. You'll hurt like hell and have tissue damage and loss but you will probably survive. I would definitely seek immediate medical attention though.

Proportionatly, they have the longest fangs of any rattlesnakes (about the same length as a Western diamondback that may be a foot longer). They can crank out a LOT of venom, but it isn't considered as potent as other Texas pit vipers (minus the copperhead).

How potent is coral snake venom?

Very potent, but also works completely different (no tissue damage, you just quick breathing) than the vast majority of pit vipers.

raider, my wife wanted to kill it. I just took pictures and let it go about its business. I did think about the snake after dark when we were trailing the doe she had arrowed. The pic was taken about 60 yards from the tree stand she was hunting in.
