Country Legends 92.1 in DFW is the best Country station I have ever heard. You can pick it up in Fort Worth west of 35.

Dang, the last few trips to SA and CC I had been wondering what happened to the outlaw and the Texas mix.

At least CC has 94.7- it's pretty good

I gave up on mainstream country years ago. Just can't stand it. So as far as broadcast radio goes, living in SA, I listen mainly to KNBT in New Braunfels, http://knbt.fm/site/ and the local college radio station, KSYM, 90.1. They have a show called Third Coast Music Network in the afternoons http://www.tcmnradio.com/. Used to tune in to The Outlaw, but as mentioned, they are gone now. Hank Moon is now with The Badlands in Corpus. Lastly, like several of you, I like to tune in to http://www.radiofreetexas.org/

A long time ago, we used to occasionally catch the Polka Hour in Brenham on the weekends. The announcer was great.

Bothe Ford must have sponsored the Polka Hour because we always heard their add.

"Der no deal lack a BoDee deal,
for a deal dat fit your han like a glove,
go see da good folks at BoDee Foard tuhday".

"An now an ol favera mine,
ma hat dat haaas tree cowner"

My brothers and I would talk like that announcer the rest of the day.

SA is a Texas Country is a radio wasteland except for something like Saturday night when you can get some on KJ97.

Losing the Outlaw blew.

680 KKYX in San Antonio - great classic country. There's a very similar one out of Houston - 97.1.

Great station. I'll also add 96.3 Giddings. Plays a lot of old country.

Fort Worth's 95.9 The Ranch. Red dirt, plenty of Texas country and some Americana.

I enjoy 97.1 out of Cleveland/Houston. I always know I'm getting close to dad's when I can tune it in. Usually just south of Madisonville.

This is an old post!

But I'm still a fan of 92.1 in Ft Worth, Hank FM.

The description of the range is spot on. West of the metroplex it's good, but when you cross 35 in Ft Worth, it's done.

97.7 Willy out of CS is pretty good, found it today while running around over there. They say you can get it online as well. Play country music, not hicktown pop.

I listen to Spotify. I am DFW.

When heading to Aggieland, I always try to pick up 97.1 Country Legends out of Houston.

They just played these:

100.3 HD 3 for new Red Dirt
92.9 HD 3 for older stuff and a whole bunch of Pat Green.
Both out of Houston, mix them together and you got a great station and the HD channels have almost zero commercials.
