Verizon Fios to Frontier question

My Uverse bill went up $100 after my 2 year term was completed so I planned on going back to Verizon Fios. I found a plan on Fios that I liked but just found out the transition of Fios service from Verizon to Frontier will happen on April 1st. Does anybody know if I would be better off ordering now through Verizon or waiting until after the transition is complete. The Frontier website doesn't have plan information at this point.

I just heard about this the other day - don't remember getting any information in the mail or email on the change.

My plan is up in May - wondering if I should re-up now before the switch or see what happens after 4/1.

Update : Just got the letter in the mail yesterday - 3 days before the switch - nice.

The Frontier site with all their FAQs was not helpful either. They will honor your contract, but also won't let you out of it early because of their takeover.

I have been aware of the transfer, and the verizon.net emails going to aol.

The email thing already happened, and while the communication was pretty poor, it seems to work. Planning to phase out those emails anyway.

Got the first and only official communication about the fios move last week. Letter really didn't say anything useful. Haven't noticed any change in the service (tv and internet.) I am on a month to month plan, so I will see what happens.

I looked at their services last night to try and make a call. They were comparable so I am going to wait and call in to see if I can get a really good deal. I'd be interested if anyone else is able to get something better than what is online.

Last time I tried, Verizon told me to take a hike (and I did.) Maybe Frontier will be better. Do like my current deal not being a contract.

Anyone here have issues yesterday? Read about lots of people losing service and feeling like they were in limbo as Frontier was not responsive and couldn't fix issues quickly.

Haven't noticed anything. Did get an email about making a frontier account. Worked about as expected with these companies - not great. Made the account, clicked the verify link and got nowhere. Assume they sent it to all subscribers at the same time so they got overwhelmed.

Was able to create and link my account today. Was not able to actually login and see anything about it though.

Has anyone looked through the tv packages? Are they any different than they were as far as content from Verizon?

They really screwed the pooch on the transfer. No on demand due to a coding issue. They also caused outages to both home users and commercial users in Florida.

Does anybody know if this will affect HBO go and the ESPN now app? The only reason I kept Verizon was due to their fast internet and being able to stream game of thrones through the app after the kids go to bed. They better not drop those two things or I'll drop them.

You have to make a new account through Frontier. Your FIOS login won't work anymore. Of course, we can't figure out how to even link our TV account to the Frontier website account so that we can get authenticated through HBOGo.

I've been considering cutting the TV package for a few months. This is just going to make the decision easier.

Seems like my signal is much worse with frontier. This weekend they were running their own commercials nonstop but they were glitching into blocks even though they looked like they were in 480 resolution. I mean cmon!

Noticed watching the walking dead that the signal was very fuzzy, as if it was encoded and then compressed a few more times just to cut bandwidth. It reminded me of cable from 15 years ago! Haven't started checking internet speeds because judging by the lag on my xbox cod, it will only piss me off. Hello suddenlink 2.0

I created my new Frontier log in, but couldn't get HBO Go or ESPN to stream this past weekend. Said I was not authorized. Not sure if that's just because things are being switched over, or what. Haven't tried it since to see if it works yet.

I guess my problem is that I ran speed test for a few minutes tonight, while the pings were good AND the speeds were actually great, there was a surprising big variation in the high low.

I averaged my 5 low download around 44 low 5 upload at 25.

Highest up 61.66 highest download 58.26

Frontier has really ****ed up the transfer here in Florida. Everyone I know who has Fios has complained about the same issues with Frontier.....OnDemand has been screwed up, the various other issues listed above. Not happy with them at all so far. Was looking into cutting cable anyway with Playstation Vue available now down here, this is just making the choice easier.

My biggest worry is if they will impose a data cap. With verizon I was definitely in the top percentile of data users since all I do is stream videos. I live in Denton and have the 150/150 service and my speeds stayed the same.

They've bungled the transition in our neighborhood, most folks have been without TV for 4 days now. Internet finally came back, and I'm only getting 53/33 on my 75/75 connection.

Mine too. I've been without internet since the storm here in NorTex. And they don't know when it will get fixed. They better effin prorate. I think I'm switching.

There's nothing greener out there. If you have FiOS, you can't get Uverse in your neighborhood. TWC is hot copper garbage. DirectTV is garbage.

Hang tight and get a refund for this month at least.

Actually Verizon built out FIOS in some ATT areas in Plano, Frisco, and Allen. So those people can sign up for Gigapower or whatever it's called.

Probably would have agreed several years ago, but maybe not anymore.

Just kicked Uverse to the curb after 8 years with them as their service remained stagnant while prices continued to creep up. All their retention folks wanted to do was move me to a bundle of DirecTV service and 45Mb internet (the best Uverse can do in my area with VDSL pair bonding). I told them no thanks, I'm getting 200/20 service from TWC now.

TWC probably deserves a second look from a lot of folks now that they've upgraded the Dallas area system to DOCSIS 3. I've run speed tests day and night and am getting a consistent 200-210 Mbps down and 21-23 up. Paying slightly less for the internet portion than I was paying AT&T for 18 Mbps service. For TV service, I switched over to a CableCARD setup using a Tivo Bolt and a couple of Tivo Mini's. No issues so far.

Yeah... it's highly dependent on where you are. If you start hearing about "TWC Maxx", then that means they've upgraded to DOCSIS 3 in the area and will generally offer up to 300/20. TWC Maxx is roughly equivalent technology-wise to Comcast Xfinity.
