If you are remotely interested in science and space, you should read this book. I just finished it, and it was excellent

Basic premise: Mark is part of manned mission to Mars, and he accidentally gets left behind when the crew believes him to be dead. The book is about the problems he encounters and the solutions to survive

I listened to this as an audiobook, it was awesome!

Got it on audible and am a few hours in. Awesome so far. Really fun levels of macguyvering.

I read it earlier this summer and loved it too. I'm curious why you can't see it as a movie? It seems pretty straightforward to me, although they will obviously have to handle the fact that a lot of the book is written in the form of mission logs. I imagine a combination of voice-overs and text on the screen could handle that, though.

I thought the trailer looked great (although it does contain some spoilers).

I just listened to Armada and it was good too. Not as good as Ready Player One, but that is a pretty high bar to reach.

I guess so much of the book seemed to be internal dialogue that I don't think will translate well to being spoken out loud by one character.

Loved the audiobook. Not a huge sci fi fan, but this one I really enjoyed.

i liked Ready Player One, but I don't understand the immense adoration for it. It was fun, but I'd take The Martian over it any day. I can see The Martian as a movie, but there's no way they can make Ready Player One into a movie as it was written. There's gonna have to be a ton of chopping down that story and reworking of parts.

It read like a first attempt (which it was) but still a very good story. I think it could be a very good movie, in the same way Castaway was a very good movie, even though most of it was just Tom Hanks by himself.

Yea I saw it. Read most of the book. They did pretty good with keeping up with the book. Had some slight changes to best structure into a movie.

The movie was great!

The movie was awesome

Really enjoyed the book and movie.

Thought the end of the movie was cheesy and they made the journey to the MAV look easy.
