How long do you want to ignore this user?

I had been holding off downloading the newest iOS for my iphone 6 for quite a bit, but decided to go ahead and give it a go yesterday.

So i hook that bad boy up to my pc and start the download. After about an hour, I go back to itunes and it says it cannot download the update correctly (or something to that effect).

I unplug the phone and it's in recovery mode (the picture saying to connect to itunes). I then do a couple of soft resets to no avail and try a few more times to download the update and get it out of recovery mode.

All with no luck.

Next step was I downloaded "Wondershare Dr. Fone for iOS" but it didn't prove useful.

So I"m basically out of ideas besides making it into an expensive drink coaster. Any suggestions?

Do you have another computer you can use?

I know you said you rebooted it and all that, have you gone through these steps exactly?

I didn't go through these steps per se. iTunes put it in recovery mode for me...

getting into recovery mode isn't the issue...getting it out is. iTunes won't update/restore the phone at all. it starts to download and install the update but freezes.

I know iTunes will ask if you want to upgrade your iPhone when you plug it in, but (and I don't mean to be snarky and understand it's too late for this) why didn't you just go to Settings / General / Software Update and update it directly?

If you haven't found a solution, is there an Apple Store nearby you can take it to?

Google provided these tips. ..

Or,
old 2011 post...

How to Exit iPhone Recovery Mode

You can typically exit recovery by doing the following:

Hold down the home and power button for about 15 seconds, this shuts off the iPhone
Press the power button to boot the iPhone
If you are stuck in recovery mode (or DFU) and you do not want to do a restore or firmware upgrade, you can use a tool like TinyUmbrella or RecBoot to escape too. If you are still stuck that usually means you must re-install iOS firmware.

A common way to recover in iPhone recovery mode is iTunes recovery - if you recently performed an iTunes backup, recovery will be very good, and if you haven't recovered it will be too miserable. By the way, it is also possible to use software fix iPhone 6 stuck in recovery mode without losing anything.
