Yeah, I clicked on this last week and thought the game was stupid.

Ascending sets you back to 0, but you get to keep HS, ancients, and gilds. Each time you'll get a little further, ascend, upgrade your stuff, and start again.

My suggestion is to keep banking HSs until about 1k before you starts spending them on ancients.

1k hero souls? how many times did you ascend? I have 7 after 1 ascension.

Maybe I only waited til 100, I forget. Each HS you have on hand increases damage by 10%. It starts snowballing after that. Be careful about buying ancients. Sometimes it's worth re-rolling a few times to get one of the good ones early.

Oh, a few pointers:
After you buy 200 of a hero, they start getting DPS multipliers every 25 levels. Normally 4x, but you get a bonus of 10x at levels 1k, 2k, and 3k. So it's worth it to go back and buy more low level heroes once you reach a certain point. The bonus stops at 4100, so don't bother after that. Once you get to the point you start focusing on maxing them out, only use Treebeast, Ivan, Brittany, Samurai, Forest Seer, and Frostleaf. Because of the 4100 cap, you'll just get to the point where you buy enough of a hero to get their bonuses, and then only buy Frostleaf.

Best advice to give, is that when the game starts to feel like it's progressing slower than you want, ascend.

Random. If you can click the flying pumpkin enough times, it will randomly use one of your abilities (without setting off a CD).

THERE'S FLYING PUMPKINS NOW?!?!?

I assume for Halloween....

using an autoclicker helps move things along as well
