The Holidays are always a time for my family to get together and play board games.

I've played a few good ones this year and wanted to see what everyone else likes.

1. Smart Ass - this one is new, and pretty fun. Nice, relatively easy questions that everyone can answer as soon as they know the answer. Each question has 10 clues that get narrower and narrower. Each person gets one guess. Very fun game.

2. Ticket to Ride - I haven't played this one myself, but I've seen it played. It's in the mail now.

3. Guesstimation - Another good one for groups. A question is posed: "How many corn dogs are eaten in a year?". Everyone writes down a guess and the closest to the actual number wins. I've learned a lot playing this one.

Any others?

Oldies, but Pictionary and Scrabble rank high with my family.

The only thing that sucks is trying to find other people who will actually play it.

I like Axis & Allies too, but I have a hard enough time getting someone to play Risk with me.

I do love my Lord of the Rings Risk set though. Neato.

I use to play risk often but man that game takes forever.

I dominate Monopoly and Risk, so those are my favorites.

You know you can play A&A via email and free software. Google "triplea axis allies"

+1 for LotR Risk and +1 for loving Axis and Allies and not having anyone to play it with.

Settlers of Catan is awesome.

Puerto Rico is great as well on a similar style of game.

Also played Acquire and Family Business some last summer, both are good fun as well.

Just got Ticket to Ride for my step dad and we played last night. It was a lot of fun.

It's a good one because it's easy for someone not as into board gaming, like my mom, and still has strategy to it, so fun for him and I.

Played this for the first time over the weekend, very fun game, indeed.

Trivial Pursuit is probably my favorite. I'm a sucker for a good trivia game.

I love Ticket to Ride, as well as, Pandemic.

I guess it is a card game, not a board game, but Munchkin is probably my favorite tabletop game ever!

Risk & Scattergories. Scattergories is great just because of the arguments we would have wether a answer fits the category.

I love Axis & Allies, but the games take so damn long. Fortunately, I have people to play it with.

So no one on here has played Twilight Struggle?

It's the number 1 game ranked on boardgamegeek.com, which appears to be one of the only places around to read reviews of board games, etc.

I ordered a copy through Amazon and should get it tomorrow. I'm hoping to get at least one game in this weekend and try it out.

anyone ever play Wildcatter, most complicated game i've ever played. didn't help being in 5th grade when we tried playing that.

I forgot to add Strat-O-Matic Football and Baseball. We use to have a league where we each drew 3 teams. Most of teams were ones my dad got when he first started playing. Was a great way to learn about players we never saw play.
