Whoever is ratting is pretty close to Hernandez and knows how he does things. So he probably told authorities he rents cars when doing his 'business'.

Seems like they can pull rental records or transaction statements and trace those all the way back to the specific VIN and get the same car he rented. Doesn't seem too hard.

In a nutshell, this is my question, too.

I've heard people say that he rents cars for his friends. Don't know. If I had rented a car for a friend that was visiting me and we were going to a club, I would take the rental over my Audi.

They didn't know when they seized it. But they can search it and find evidence in it that links it to the crime. Put all the pieces together to figure it out just as with any crime.

Again, don't think it would be that hard once you know Hernandez was involved and locate the exact car he rented.

The double murder was in July 2012. I wonder how much evidence is still in the SUV a year later. It was a rental, so despite being Enterprise, it probably gets cleaned fairly regularly. It isn't going to be like my truck that may get a Chick-Fil-A bag stuck under the seat for a year.

So apparently Aaron Hernandez has a brother who is the TE coach at Iowa, and while all this is going down, the dumbass decides to go out and get into a fight at 3 a.m.

Not a good thing when your brother and his friends execute a guy earlier this month for reported disrespect and then a few days later you and your friends are out and are involved in an altercation because of reported disrespect.

I think we're getting a clearer view as to why he got so sloppy with this killing. It's looking more like he's spent several years getting away with shooting people, so I'd imagine one gets a little more emboldened which leads to sloppiness.

As speculated about upon Hernandez's arrest, he wants to marry his fiancé in order to prevent her from having to testify against him. (Federal law provides protection to spouses from having to testify).

The Sheriff has now announced that he will not allow Hernandez to get married while being held in jail.

To me the biggest concern for him may be the threat of extortion or "taxation" by one or more gangs in gen pop, since his wealth is well-known, and hardened criminals doing life in prison won't care about him being a SB winner. They'll just see dollar signs.

Like the other guy said, being an NFL athlete won't necessarily protect him from threats of violence. If he's not already associated with a gang (reports are saying he supposedly isn't), he probably will be pretty quick after being in general pop, for protection purposes. He may be a tough dude but there's safety in numbers. He's got at least one good reason to care about his safety and surviving in the prison system (his infant daughter).

After reading all the evidence arrayed against him, I've come to the conclusion that Hernandez and his crew are the anti Leopold and Loeb. They have succeeded in committing the imperfect crime. Clues exist that account for just about every second of that night. It's like a mystery you'd set up for a 5th grader birthday party.
