Was just added to the list of O/G casualties so back in the job hunt.

Looking for something in Houston whether it be consulting, O/G, manufacturing, etc.

Ouch, sorry to hear. I got laid off early last year with basically no severance, but had a soft landing with another consultant. If you're looking for consulting, job boards show some decent prospects in Houston right now.

Outside of consulting, well I'm still looking for the right spot myself. Best of luck.

Sorry to hear about the layoff.

What concerns me most about your posting is your comment "Looking for something whether it be consulting, O/G, manufacturing, etc."

The "etc." is the killer.

When a resume presents the candidate with "all over the map" knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience... it paints the candidate as a generalist. Employers want specialists... and the job boards and sites evidence that. Employers are not necessarily looking for a candidate who is a jack-of-all-trades master of none. No.

My recommendation would be to identify exactly what it is you want to do to make a living... identify those opportunities (job postings) and then align the language in your resume to qualify you for the opportunity (so long as truly you are qualified).

Hope that helps.

He was just laid off. His focus will come after he processes the situation. Also, keep in mind that for a lot of people, "any job" now is a billion times better than "perfect job" in 10 months. In that regard, you need more than one resume. You can have one really great perfect resume for the perfect job, whatever that is.

On top of that, Id have a couple that are specific for each job you are qualified for or have transferable skills in. You can't be a 'jack of all trades', but you can increase your odds of finding work doing something if you have some idea.

But this isn't my resume. Just thought I'd throw out a few feelers and see what anyone has or knew of.

And yeah at this point I'd settle for anything.

Thanks for the feedback and I've got a couple promising leads so not a week into this ordeal and things are looking up

I'd still get that stuff together. I've been at this for two months and I started with about 100 personal connections inside my industry. 4 went somewhere, but none have actually resulted in an interview. Granted, my particular skill set is highly specialized. You may get lucky or be in a good spot, but better to be prepared just in case....good luck and I hope your leads work out quickly.
