I've posted about my company and in particular our various job openings in the past. To date I've directly recruited 5 hires from Texags and another 2-3 have been recruited by my 5. This post will be a little different as I am not looking for people for the whole company, I am specifically looking for people for MY team. You will be trained by me and will report to me atleast until I am ready to throw you to the wolves on your own.

For those that have not seen my posts in the past, please click the link above for details. The quick summary is that we are a 20+ yr old software company that services O&G E&P companies. We have offices in Midland, Dallas, Houston, Denver, OKC and coming soon in Tulsa. The entire software package provides back office functionality for the functional areas of Accounting, Revenue, Land and Production. My team supports and implements the Production module. Our module is in the process of receiving some significant upgrades and we anticipate a huge influx of work for the team due to these enhancements (huge client demand) as well as key industry indicators that tend to dictate increased consulting work for our area.

I am looking for people that can fill 2 types of roles ....

Implementation/Special Projects - The primary responsibilities of this role will be to implement the software for new client, consult on best practices for existing and assisting clients with various projects to help ensure optimized utilization. This will be a traveling role however we try to keep the travel under 25% when possible.

Support - The primary responsibilities of this role is client support and assisting with QA. However we are using these individuals to also assist with training and consulting for local clients. There will be minimal travel in this role.

To fill these roles I am looking for technically oriented individuals with...
- excellent people skills
- excellent communication
- strong analytical skills
- ability to learn quickly
- ability to teach technical concepts to the non-technical

No prior O&G experience is necessary but it is a plus. Would prefer to place individuals in OK, Houston, Dallas and possibly Denver. I'm not sure how many people we are looking to hire immediately. Long term (next 6 months) I want 1-2 Support and 2-3 Implementation and would ideally have atleast 2 people by end of year. If you are interested in more info or have questions please post here or email me (in my profile).

*** Added detail that was not available in previous posts ***

Out tailgate is typically located at the North Entrance to Reed and I am the designated pit master so am present at all games in CS.
- Starting in Jan 2015 we will be modifying out benefits package to provide and option for medical, dental and vision coverage for dependents on the company dime.

What is the salary range of this position? Will prior experience increase pay? My husband currently works for Dell Services in Dallas might be interested.

There is no specific range that I am aware of. A higher level of experience as it pertains to our needs will definitely be considered when determining each candidates value to the company.

Few additional notes based on email questions I am getting...

1. There are no specific degree requirements. There are some degrees (MIS, Comp Sci, etc...) that may stand out more due to being a software company but skills always trump degree. We have typically required a degree but I don't think that will be a deal breaker for the right skillset.
2. Though I will be the one training the individuals for my group, I am not solely responsible for deciding who we hire and don't. I may hear nothing about your progress until I am asked to participate in an interview.

Ill do my best to keep up with your questions/emails. Been a crazy day so far.

chjoak I will be emailing you my resume tonight. I think I might be a great candidate and have been looking to get into implementation and projects for a software company that serves O&G.

I sent you an e-mail. I feel I would be a fantastic fit for one of your Support Roles.

When you say Implementation/Special Projects, are you looking for developers/engineers or Project Manager types?

Currently a PMP in technology for a major bank, actively looking for opportunities in O&G.

We have Development, PMs, QA, IT and Support. I am recruiting for support which covers a wide range of skill sets including troubleshooting, training, business analysis, data analysis, consulting, etc... My group is basically breaking those into 2 groups, travelers and and non-travelers. Non-travelers provide client support and local training/consulting. Travelers provide both local and remote training, consulting, etc... Everyone essentially starts out in the same pool and eventually move to one of the groups based on ability, desire, need, etc...

Remote office is not impossible but not incredibly likely for someone brand new. You would have to be an incredible fit for management to ok that.

What is the hiring time frame? I know you said 6 months, but when when would you be looking for someone to start next year? Also, do you have preferences on locations to put people in? Could training be done remotely with the intent to move to an office location once training is complete?

If we find the right people they could start immediately. For my team in particular, I would rather not being training too many people at one time. So I will likely look to add 1-2 as soon as we can find a good fit then 1-2 sometime in the next few months.

They are going to want new employees to be available for face to face training. I imagine there could be certain circumstances where exceptions are made so we would have to address those as they come up.

Would the face to face training be in a particular office with the opportunity to move to another, or would all of the people on your team be based out of your office?

I don't care which office my team is in. Ideally right now I would like to add Houston and OKC primarily but that is mostly based on travel needs. I am open to adding people to any of our current offices if they are a good fit.

I emailed you re: the Dallas office. I'd like to stay in Dallas, but I have family in OKC so I'd travel there as often as you want, no problem.
