Can they just changed it to "formerly rock n roll now sorta everything" HOF?

Go ELO!

WTF is 2pac nominated for RR hall of fame.

Disclaimer: I love 2pac.

As dumb as giving Obama a nobel peace prize.

ELO and Pearl Jam are my personal faves of those nominated. Love Depeche Mode but they're not getting in first time around.

Journey will likely get in.

I think Chic finally gets in, would be kind of cool if Kraftwerk got in.

MC5 will probably get in too.

For me, ELO should have been in long before and I think they make it. Same for Yes. Except which members of Yes actually get inducted? That's been their problem before. That and the HOF (cough cough Rolling Stone) has not been kind to prog rock until recently. Pearl Jam makes it too.

The late Onepac makes it to continue the string of rap indictees. I don't think he belongs anywhere near the HOF, but he gets in.

The rest? Meh.

Disco and electronic muzak are considered "rock and roll" now?

I'm not saying I want Chic to get in, just think it's going to happen.

I just think Kraftwerk are odd enough that it would be fun to see.

Also, where have you been? The RRHOF has been pretty loose with the term Rock and Roll from day one.

It is way past time for Steppenwolf.

I hope they do it while John Kay is still alive.

I would hope ELO is a lock

Such good music

Journey just being nominated for the first time should tell you a lot.

Same with ELO.

Can't believe Yes is still waiting for inclusion . From 69-87, they were a solid, productive band. Not many bands ,especially not in the HOF, can say they had radio hits for about 20 years. Rush getting in should make Yes a no brainer.

PJ is a stone cold lock, will be sad if they include Tupac but it's probably inevitable.

I don't see Pearl Jam, Journey, or ELO getting snubbed. Yes should make it, too.

Saw Yes 4 times in the 70's. Tarrant County CC had 14,000 for a show, a revolving stage. Donovan opened up for Yes at SMU Moody Coliseum

The album's ~ Fragile, Close to The Edge, Tales From Topographic Oceans

Yessongs - one of the best live album's ever released at that time

ELO should have been inducted when they became eligible. Joe Walsh calls Jeff Lynne "one of the most talented musician on the planet." Didn't he write almost all E L O's stuff?

Pearl Jam should and will make it.
Tupac.
The Cars this year or next.
Yes makes it, this is lucky #3 for them.
The Zombies, lucky #3.

I bet Journey has to wait.

Here's this guy's list of HOF snubs. Chic has been nominated 11 times. Must be a record.

Regarding Yes...

I know it was more pop than prog, but I really liked Big Generator when it came out in 1987. Really clean sound. Still listen to it today. Thought it was better than 90125.

I like Big Generator, but it's nowhere close to 90125.

The problem with Yes is if you induct them, that basically inducts half of the known music industry considering how many variations of the band there were.
Mathguy64

The HoF will induct a subset of them this year. And then get the rest when they induct XYZ next year.

It could be its own thread.

I can't name a song yes or ELO has. I can name 90% of Pearl Jam songs in 10 notes or less.

Obviously they belong.

Kind of the opposite for me.

We actually shazamed an ELO song last night. My son thought it was music from one of his video games or something. Don't bring me down.

I know the names and I'm sure I recognize the hits.

DM should be in first ballot. They won't be, but they should.

I think Chic should get in because of their influence. And Nike Rodgers and Bernard Edwards were really talented producers/songwriters.

PJ had lasting power that I certainly did not expect.

ELO - Jeff Lynne is genius
YES
The Cars - arguably one of the best debut albums and lots of great hits
Pearl Jam - definitely worthy and a Rolling Stone favorite
Journey - should be in and the speculation of Steve Perry joining their performance will be fun to watch.

I heard Steve Perry had a family member die recently, and the current Journey singer called him up and said 'Don't stop, bereaving'

PJ and yes.

Journey hmmm probably. Eventually for sure not sure about year one.

Maybe ELO. Maybe Cars.

I'd be ok with those 5 but they are usually more diverse.

The inductees are out. ELO, Journey, Yes, Pearl Jam, Tupac and Joan Baez.
