"The Siege of Jadotville (2016) Netflix Original Movie)

This movie showed up in my recommendations and I watched it last night. One of the best war movies I've seen in a while, especially considering it was not a big budget Hollywood production with "name" actors. I am not sure that I recognized a single one of the actors although there were one or two that seemed vaguely familiar. Anyway, I thoroughly enjoyed this well made flick based on a true story about a vastly outnumbered and lightly armed company of soldiers in the Irish Army (Republic of Ireland) that were assigned to the U.N. as peacekeepers in the Congo in 1961. Here's a brief synopsis of the conflict from Wikipedia:


The Siege of Jadotville took place in September 1961, during the United Nations intervention in the Katanga conflict in Congo-Lopoldville, in Central Africa, when "A" Company, 35th Battalion (UN service) of theIrish Army ONUC contingent were attacked by Katanga Gendarmerietroops loyal to the Katangese Prime Minister Moise Tshombe. The lightly-armed Irish soldiers resisted Katangese assaults for six days as a relief force of Irish and Swedish troops unsuccessfully attempted to reach the Irish force besieged in Jadotville (modern Likasi).
