Connery - the original, the best
Craig - 2 of the top 7 bond films and a strong 4 movies overall, solid performances
Moore - the most with 7 and some good ones, but far too many were farcical
Brosnan - he was pretty good, the movies were bad and that hurts him
Dalton - too dark really, but underrated actor, could have used some levity
Lazenby - with just the one film he brings up the rear

not including Peter Sellers, David Niven, Woody Allen and Barry Nelson.

Craig is firmly number 2 behind Connery, though I really like Dalton's movies.

I loved the different tone of the Craig movies, it emphasized that the super agent is more than his gadgets. I'm interested to see who will take up the mantle now.

I pretty much agree with this list. I liked Dalton a lot. Lazenby was awful. Diana Rigg carried OHMSS. She is one of my top Bond girls.

Craig is/was my favorite bond due to Casino Royale. Connery a close second with Moore in third.

Hiddleston just doesn't look like a Bond to me. Damian Lewis looks too old, John Boyega looks too young. I could see Tom Hardy, but it will probably be Idris Elba to placate the PC crowd.

I listed them in no specific order. Though Craig had a stronger block of movies than Brosnan, I have a special place in my heart for Goldeneye probably because I remember the entire tank sequence pretty well from seeing it in theater. I think he tried pretty hard, but his last two movies weren't that great because the plot was just bad.

Elba would be great, but damn if he isn't already a bit old to take on the franchise. I mean if he did two movies aren't we around 5-6 years away from the 2nd one coming out?

Hardy would be great. As would Hiddleston.

I don't know if you meant it as such, but I don't see them going with Elba just to placate the PC crowd. there are plenty of non-PC things about the character of James Bond and the movies have stayed pretty true to the character and all his non-PC "faults".

I remember the outrage when Craig was cast because he's not a brunette and that worked out pretty well for everybody. if Elba gets the gig, it would be because he's a badass and a fantastic choice for the part.

honestly, there are a number of actors that I'd be supportive of as the next Bond.

Yeah, James Bond the "womanizer" is definitely not PC in today's world.

And just because Elba is black, doesn't mean he'd be picked just to be "PC". It could also be that he's a very good choice regardless of his race.
