In the spirit of the topic where you list out popular movies that you haven't seen, I was curious to hear feedback about movies where expectations were or were not met after seeing a movie years later. I consider myself an avid movie watcher, but somehow had never seen Goodwill Hunting or Fargo. I caught both this weekend on Netflix and they did not disappoint. Both were amazing. If anyone has somehow missed these, I feel confident that you will still enjoy them.

I'd always felt like I'd been missing out for not having seen 2001 Space Odyssey. Finally saw it on the plane a few weeks ago. While I get the epic-ness and the cinematography, etc... I was severely disappointed. I really thought they'd misprogrammed the TVs for the first 30 minutes - monkeys? wtf...

I guess mine would be Full Metal Jacket. Somehow had never seen it even as an admitted Kubrick fanboy.

Saw it last month and found it a bit of a weak link in his amazing filmography.

Not sure if it was really on my bucket list, but I finally watched The Green Mile last night, one of the few Tom Hanks movies I had never seen.

I don't know why I skipped it, probably because it's a Stephen King joint, and I generally don't enjoy his work. But this wasn't bad. Every once in a while he surprises me.

The original True Grit and Scarface was disappointing. Saw both for the first time this year.

The first half is one of the best movies of all time. Meh on the rest.

While the movie isn't even cloae to Kubricks best war movie, the second half is clearly the better half.

And there is no denying that paths of glory is his better war movie.

I know I stand alone when it comes to full Metal jacket but seriously do yourself a favor and watch paths of glory.

Actually it is universally agreed that the first half is better so you probably like Star Wars Christmas special.

Say what you will but the Christmas special introduced the world to certain bounty hunter.

And the second half is better in the same way that Mad Max was a better movie than the road warrior.

Did you see the theatrical version or the director's cut? Its the only movie I can think of where the director's cut is actually worse.

I finally watched all of the Godfather movies.

Some good scenes, but "meh" overall.
