Did anyone else watch this? I loved Tim Robbins character. Think this show has potential.

i was going to start a thread for this.
i thought the first episode was good but lacked some depth. this felt too entourage like which is no what i would expect out of the all star cast they have assembled.

I didn't know anything about it but watched it. Really enjoyed it as well
Not entirely sure how I felt about it. Some parts were hysterical, others felt really out of place. The druggie pilot storyline might get old fast.
I think they tried to jam one hours worth of characters into a half hour show. Is it a comedy? Drama? Both?
Great way to put it.
Thought it was better than Ballers but I love Jack Black.
I enjoyed the first episode.
I am watching.
I think it has some potential. I enjoyed Tim Robbins character he was much funnier than I expected. Definitely will keep watching.
I enjoyed the hell out of it. Tim Robbins was cracking me up.

Finally watched this last night, I was pleasantly surprised!
Given the talent they had in it I wasn't that impressed. It was ok but didn't seem overly intelligent insightful or bold. Maybe my expectation for HBO series is just really high.
I did read one review though that said the show starts to find itself around episode 5, so I will probably hang in until then at least.

I actually enjoyed ballers more. But I'll give this another shot. The problem for them, imo, is that veep knocks it out of the park every week on the political comedy side of things.
I'll watch again for Robbins and Black, but it wasn't a great start.
I'll say it, most anything with jack black I'll give it a shot.
I'm the opposite, I think Jack Black movies generally stink which is why I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this show.
That was a really strange mix of drama and comedy (and I normally love me some dramedies) that didn't feel quite right yet. But I'm still in.

Speaking of women of the show, if you want to be made to feel like you are an underachiever, check out the bio of the woman who plays Aasif's sister. She competed in the pan American games and won a medal, graduated from Stanford (where she was student body prez) was miss India and a model with a ton of major work. Now she's trying acting - my guess is that she succeeds.

She has all that great background and appears to have thrown it all away. After graduating Stanford with a mechanical engineering degree and taking a job with McKinsey, she decided she didn't want to get up every morning per the Wiki link. Now, she is 5 years into a c-list tv/movie career. Her parents must be proud of what she did with all that knowledge.
She has McKinsey on her resume, she has stanford on her resume, she is hot... ergo she will never be unemployed unless she wants to be. Good for her for trying the acting thing.
both my wife and I can't decide if we like this show. it's not serious enough to want to watch what happens with the story. and not funny enough to make us watch regardless.
I'm enjoying the show but the fighter pilot bit was stupid.

I don't think it's been great... But, hey, you've got little Nicky Sobotka, Nuke LaLoosh/Andy Dufresne, and Barry from the record store... I'm down to keep watching for a while and I think it had potential.
