anybody watched this yet? I'm a couple episodes in, and I can't form an opinion yet.

watched episode 1 last night and was blown away.

Keep waiting, I'm on the finale right now and it almost takes half the season before that kind of stuff happens. I'm a fan, just it's super slow developing.

If this was a regular show and not a binge show I probably would have stopped. There wasn't really a hook in the pilot for a regular tv show.

Another thing I think that will probably be a barrier for people is that for the first six episodes, Lito and Nomi's story lines are pretty similar. They are both variations of "I'm gay and people don't understand me." As the season goes on, they flesh out the characters, especially Nomi, to where being gay isn't just their whole identity.

Made it through episode 5 today. It's really starting to pick up steam.

Yes who's your favorite? I really liked all of them except for the Indian chick, but Wolfgang is such a badass.

Yeah he is definitely in my top 4. He is just so positive about everything.

On the third episode right now, still not sure what the purpose of the show is.... Anyways, the fight scene reminded me of the games arena from Tron but I think that is probably purposeful.

Just watched the first two episodes. I'm intrigued!

Finally picking it back up again.

Episode 6, oh my goodness. The Sensate Orgy.

I thoroughly enjoyed the show. Van Damn and Wolfgang were my favorites. Will/Lito/Nomi/Riley/Sun were cool too. I can't even remember the Indian chicks name. It took a while to develop and there's a lot of talking (which I'm okay with given the fact that there are 8 main characters) but the action sequences and the "visiting" scenes were all great

It's pretty good. Story moves along then BAMMMMM!!!!....pornography. Rinse, repeat.

I spent the entire season trying to figure out what dramatic past Riley and Kala (had to look up her name) brought to the group. Then we had Rileys flashbacks. HOLY CRAP.

So we have:
Van Damn - mother with AIDS, kicked out of village
Wolfgang - killed his abusive father, works in uncles gang
Lito - gay action movie star in very homophobic Mexico
Nomi - transgender computer hacker (with a pretty bad ass girlfriend for dealing with all of this crap)
Sun and Will - classic daddy attention issues
Riley - husband killed in wreck, gives birth in turned over car, kid dies from exposure
Kala - doesnt like her future husband (really, thats the best they could do)

Cant wait for the next season.

I'll echo some already stated thoughts.

At first, I was a little annoyed at the Lito and Nomi storylines. I felt like the show was a platform for the Wachowskis to disseminate their propaganda (and it may be), but around the middle of the season the circumstances of those characters fit rather well into the storyline. There was a purpose and meaning behind it. Does there have to be? No, but without it I felt like I was being force fed an agenda.

Interesting concept. I really enjoy stuff like this - where humans can be exceptional and do things beyond what is within our current realm of possibility. I look forward to next season.

Love this show so much.

Sun is my favorite character, but they are all very likable.

The trans character is actually trans in real life. They are all awesome.

8 people are connected to each other through their thoughts. It's an evolution of humanity called sensates. sensates are hunted by a mysterious organization that generally seeks to rid them from existence or use them from their gain. The 8 people learn to cope with their new feelings and connections while slowly realizing they are not exactly safe.

Man I don't know if I can really do that.... All I really remember is that the group is psychically linked in some manner and there is a group after them... Though I admit I'm not exactly sure why that is... The series largely deals with them coming to understand and accept this.

There is a metric ****-ton of character background in the season. IIRC the story really starts to pick up around episode 5 of the series. That's when things started picking up for me at least. Overall, it's not a bad show. I just think that they spent perhaps a bit too much time in detailing the characters' history in the first half of the season when all of the sudden bam, the hunt or the group is on.

They just put out a making of for this. The amount of work that went into the show is insane. They shot everything on location, including the San Francisco pride parade.

The switches are all on the spot.
The shared scenes when they jump from town to town are shot in each location.

It may be 2017 before we get season 2 just due to the travel.

Interesting and I was wondering this. It would have made sense to shoot both seasons at the same time if Netflix had enough confidence in the show.

Season 2 might not need AS much travel as season 1, now that the sensates are meeting up with each other

I'm also pretty sure they knew they were being renewed. Iirc Netflix automatically purchases 2 seasons minimum from their new shows.

They just waited til 8/8 to announce it had been renewed for obvious reasons.

I just finished the season and really enjoyed it when viewed as a whole.

I agree it starts out slow and I did feel like I was being force fed some propaganda starting out (I was getting a strong anti-medicine vibe in the early season) other people have mentioned the strong treatment on homosexuality, but viewed as a whole, it all made "sense" and fit together very well in the end. I ended up liking all the characters and their stories--Kala's probably the least as her back story was probably just the least interesting.

The premise and how they developed their telepathic connections was very well done.

Just saw this. We wil have a different Capheus Van Damme next season.

That sucks. I thought his acting was terrific. New guy will have some shoes to fill.

Agreed. Four episodes in and it's started off faster than the first season but again not a whole lot from Capheus or Kala, again.
