Going through this list makes me realize that there's never been a really good football movie. Boxing, basketball, baseball, even hockey have some really great movies.

The original Friday Night Lights is pretty damn great. But yeah, there needs to be a classic set in the NFL.

The Program is a decent sports movie but not an all time great like Rocky, Raging Bull, Hoosiers, Pride of the Yankees, etc. You don't even see it on tv any more because most people think it sucks. Brian's Song is a really good movie, but I still wouldn't put it on the level of those other movies. I'm not sure about Friday Night Lights. The tv series is better than the movie.

you said really goodfootball movies and the two I listed I believe fall into that category. the
movies you listed are some all time great movies, not just great sports movies.
Those are two completely different topics you are trying to discuss her. I
agree there are no all time great football movies. Rudy probably has the
biggest appeal and comes closest but they Hollywooded the ending and that kinda
ruined it for me.

I remember the intro to the Last Boy Scout. Where the running back makes it into the end zone, then puts the gun to his head and says "Life's a *****" then BOOM!

I guess that's what I was going for. Football is my favorite sport, really the only one I pay attention to anymore, yet if I were to make a top 10 sports movie list, a football movie wouldn't even make the list.

Yeah the football parts of most good football movies suck, if that makes sense.

What's up with there being one real team in that movie: the Kansas Jayhawks? Never understood that.

His throwing motion and swing. His ability to get in batter's heads was legend, but he couldn't pull off "ball player".
