Obviously this is a spoiler thread up to the aforementioned episode.

I'm sorry but this is just freaking stupid. We get it. Claire and Frank are effed up sexually deviant people. I feel like the three way has pushed this beyond character development and into the range of ridiculous and stupid.

I've been told I need to finish out the season but at the moment I'm not in any hurry. I felt like this latest tidbit was thrown in there just to be "shocking" or something. I don't have a problem with watching shows that bring up controversial stuff or throw in some shock value but I just don't see the point of this.

Yeah I've been curious to see why they are adding random tidbits about Franks sexuality when he visited his old college buddy and now with the meachum scene. It may be setting up for something in the future, but it was definitely out of left field.

cool thing is you can fast forward if it makes you uncomfortable.
frank underwood being bisexual was established in season 1. this wasnt shocking, it was boring and predictable.

That's kinda my problem with it. I saw this coming from the episode wear the Secret Service guy walks in on Frank watching porn. Once Claire was tipsy I thought to myself, "I bet Frank is going to get home and join this party, so to speak."

I didn't think it played into developing anyone's character and it didn't seem to move the story along, it was just as if the writers said "let's see if we can work a three way between Frank, his wife, and some dude into the script." It was just stupid. Excess garbage.

its not a good show. it is an FX quality type drama (think early nip/tuck) in terms of quality, but benefits greatly from kevin spacey doing kevin spacey sh*t.
in terms of quality writing or plot, season 2 was pretty much crap. the most compelling character was killed off in season 1. the bbq story line was beyond idiotic - worse even than this stupid 3 way. the president is a total wimp.

for me it was a good time waster on a long flight 1/2 way around the world.

But the exit of the oh-so-lovely Kate Mara, that was one of the more shocking things I've seen on a drama.

yeah, that was fun and unexpected. she's nice to look at, but a horrible actress and was one of the dumber parts of s1.

I felt that way about the killing of the drunk running for Gov. Way over the top way too risky, completely unnecessary, so why would super smart and calculating Frank do that?

Wasn't it because Russo was about to admit to all his problems? The drinking, drugs, the hooker. This would've ruined Franks image and reputation due to his involvement with Russo and pushing him for governor.

russo was the most interesting thing about the show (other than Kevin Spacey). i really think that if this had been a weekly series they might have decided not to kill off russo.

Russo was ruined politically, but there was little to no risk for frank because now Russo was a public drunk and druggie.

Season 2 was stupid.

I'm not sure I can even care enough to watch Season 3.

Season 2 was all setup to Season 3.

In my opinion the three-way was meant to make the secret service agent's bond with Claire and Frank stronger, so that when Frank undoubtedly f's him (figuratively, since he literally did that in the threesome), it will be that much more cold-blooded.

Also, it was Franks way of quelling the agent's budding loyalty to Claire and asserting his dominance (literally, but he figuratively did that in the threesome) in the relationship to Claire as much as to the agent.

Well that's just an extremely apologetic opinion for what was not very good TV hidden by decent production value.

Good shows don't have to claim "it was all a setup." They're just entertaing shows throughout.

HoC is an OK, but by no means good show that gets more love than it otherwise would due to the fact that it's eps all come available at once and Spacey. Doled out weekly on HBO or something, it doesn't get nearly the amount of love.

yep, and if you compare it to the other two big DC set shows right now (FXs the americans and HBOs Veep), both of them completely blow HoC out of the water.

I fully enjoyed season 2, and don't see it being setup as a negative thing. The whole narrative for frank underwood had been his maneuvering to get to the white house, with the last sceneof season two serving as a punchline/cout de grace.
