I'll second The Raid movies.

As much as I love 'Cat Ballou' it has not aged well enough for I think the newer audience to appreciate.

I still love 'Murder By Death' -- detective spoof by Neil Simon starring some serious acting chops.

Most of the younger generation have not seen 'Ordinary People.' About as powerful as a drama gets.

Overlooked 90s mobster/thriller I really like to recommend is 'Things to Do in Denver When You're Dead.'

New movie, on Netflix, that reminded me of the grittiness of Sling Blade is 'Blue Ruin.'

Classic courtroom drama '12 Angry Men.'

Sunrise. It won Best Picture, Best Actress, and Best Photography. But because it was made in 1927 it's silent and in black and white, and that scares some people worse than a live snake.

Sunset Boulevard. Probably the most meta movie of all time.

Yes, it's a Spanish horror movie in the "found footage" genre that is fantastic and has spawned several decent sequels. It was remade almost shot-for-shot in the US as "Quarantine" (which isn't bad) but the original is superior.
