Final stretch of 2014. Who better to start the anchor leg than WEEZER, who released Everything Will Be Alright in the End on 10/7/14.



The lead track "Ain't Got Nobody" sounds like vintage Pinkerton to me. I'm on my first listen, but so far it's really, really good. As a huge fan of the blue album and Pinkerton (and Maladroit and the green album to a much lesser degree), it's a really good turn for the band compared to what they have been putting out.

After a full listen, I'm a big fan. And the whole thing clocks in at 45 minutes or so.

I also wanted to mention the new Shakey Graves album And the War Came which also just came out.

That Weezer album sounds promising.

Weezer album was surprisingly solid. Nothing great but compared to their post Pinkerton and even post Green releases; not bad.

Flying Lotus has a new album out. For those unfamiliar, he is a producer that has a very unqiue sound. Hip-hop meets Modern Jazz subdae with electronic dance sprinkles on tops. The Kendrick track is tight.

I was sad to discover the other day that I'm officially over Flying Lotus.

The caribou album is really good.

Trigger Hippy's debut just came out and is excellent. The group includes Black Crowes' drummer Steve Gorman, Joan Osborne, and Crowes' guitarist Jackie Greene. Definitely recommended for Black Crowes fans and Americana fans in general. Also, I get a little of a Tedeschi Trucks Band vibe when Osborne is on lead vocals.

Also, good. Listened to that earlier this week.

Weezer fans should check out Rivers' episode of WTF with Marc Maron. It was good because Rivers is an interesting guy, but also interesting to hear Rivers talk about his musical influence. Had no idea that he was a huge slayer heavy metal type guy. He was even in a freaking Yngwie Malmsteen cover band.

I never would have guessed that, but now when I go back and listen, you can actually hear it in a very weird way.

TV On the Radio continues to kill it as one of the most underrated bands going. I think I'd consider Return to Cookie Mountain and Dear Science as two of the best albums of the 2000s.

Anyway, here's Careful You from their new albums Seeds, due out on 11/18.

I will say, the Hozier album surprised me. I didn't love "Take Me to Church" but the album is quite good. Worth a listen.

just heard their album before this one too and like it equally as much.

Love the new Weezer album which is surprising considering I gave up on them years ago. I went back and revisited some of their albums and I stand by my initial assessmentt that Make Believe and on are pretty horrible albums, with a few decent songs. This one is MUCH MUCH better. Hopefully they continue to right the ship.

New Amaranthe is still very formulaic, but damn if they arent one of the most enjoyable acts in metal right now.
