Howdy all, so this time of year is study time for me as stuff starts to get a little crazy, so Spotify and I become good friends. I've just been listening to the stuff I always listen to, which is Muse, Pearl Jam, Smashing Pumpkins, some Radiohead, Foo Fighters, Nirvana, Incubus and Coldplay. However, Muse won't release their new album until sometime later this year, and the Coldplay album doesn't come out till May. Just thought I'd ask the TexAgs community for some music suggestions that are similar to what I already listen to.

If you are looking for something a little harder -- I would suggest Sevendust or In This Moment.

Sevendust's latest album - Black Out the Sun is fantastic. They'll have a new acoustic record out in a few weeks (with a tour), 6 old songs done acoustically and 6 new songs.

So, it seems like you enjoy alternative rock and indie rock in general. Here are a few ideas:

Violens
Weird Dreams
California X
Dungen (Swedish psych rock)

yeah I guess Alternative rock would be the general name for the genre I like, but I feel like that genre is just way too broad. Like I don't think Coldplay and Radiohead can really be placed under any one genre.

Manchester Orchestra has some great albums, as well.

Listening to Brand New now. Pretty good stuff! I don't really care if they're a Christian band or not, but does anyone know if any of the members associate themselves with Christianity?

A lot of religious themes in their lyrics, but definitely not Christian. More questioning religion than anything..

New Manchester Orchestra and Chevelle albums next Tuesday. Looking forward to it.

Chevelle album is up on ITunes now for a free preview... so far, its pretty damn good.

Listening to Chevelle as well......sounds a lot like Wonder What's Next.....

This was probably the most surprising thread I've seen on TexAgs. Manchester and Brand New being mentioned at all?

This thread is my favorite ever.

One thing I've learned over the years on the entertainment board here, is that TexAgs really likes Brand New.

It could be because they are really good.

I've been posting mostly on the football board and never made my way to the entertainment forum until now. I usually just go on texags binges during futbol season, but I decided to see what was going on here. Pleasant surprise!

On that note. I saw Manchester in Houston last week for the first time. Absolutely blew my mind.

Brand New. Listened to them in highschool. Listening to them again now.

It's perfect work music for me, and would be awesome study music as well.

Haha! I could see that too. But it's mellow with enough of a rhythm that it's a solid choice for trying to get stuff done for me. Basically - I don't get bored and I don't spend my time trying to dance/sing along to it.

I see that. I cook to it a lot.

Also breaking orbit callsign is a great album to chill to
